Posindo to boost development of eastern Indonesia’s logistics industry

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The state-owned postal service company PT Pos Indonesia (Posindo) has pledged its commitment to expediting development of the logistics industry in eastern Indonesia as a step to encourage economic equality in the outermost, frontier and lagging (3T) regions.This commitment was demonstrated through Logistics Day observed in Kuta, Bali, Friday (March 10), which involved logistics industry stakeholders, businesses, consumers, and other stakeholders. “Pos Indonesia is committed to encouraging logistics interconnectivity throughout Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke, including eastern Indonesia,” Director of the Courier and Logistics Business of Pos Indonesia Siti Choirianasaid in an official statement received in Jakarta, Friday. In order to reach all areas, she noted that Pos Indonesia had divided its working areas into six regions. The regional division covers all provinces in Indonesia, with a supporting capacity of 42 main branch offices, 168 branch offices, and 4,308 sub-branch offices. “This carrying capacity is to reach all regions of Indonesia up to the 3T (outermost, frontier and lagging) areas as our effort to encourage economic growth in all regions of Indonesia,”Choirianasaid. Pos Indonesia also supports and develops interconnectivity with courier and logistics companies, both domestically and internationally, as one of its strategies to secure world logistics services at more competitive prices. “Pos Indonesia, as the organizer of the courier logistics business, also collaborates with BUMN logistics clusters or with private companies for service products in the first mile, middle, and last mile using a digital platform. This is in order to accelerate the logistics distribution process for business actors in Indonesia as an effort to support national economic stability,” she explained. Choiriana further noted that Pos Indonesia had experience in conducting courier and logistics activities for centuries, starting from retail shipments, corporate shipments, working on government projects, to the distribution of election shipments, rice social assistance, and direct cash assistance (BLT). Pos Indonesia has warehouses or storage facilities at 151 points spread across Indonesia that can be used to provide end-to-end logistics solutions through management fulfillment of products for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). “We have succeeded in encouraging dozens of MSME products to export to countries in the Middle East. This is inseparable from Pos Indonesia’s position as part of the UPU (United Postal Union) world organization, with International Postal services to 228 countries, so that it is able to collaborate with all parties to distribute all international shipments,” she said. Director of Post Directorate General of PPI of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia Gunawan Hutagalung said that Pos Indonesia, as a state-owned enterprises (BUMN) engaged in courier and logistics services, was able to serve as a courier for logistics solutions for ministries, agencies, departments, and regional governments. “Pos Indonesia has the capacity and experience in interconnectivity for the distribution of courier and logistics shipments, both domestically and internationally,” Hutagalung remarked.
