Ministry scrutinizing ownership of plots around Plumpang depot

rarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister Hadi Tjahjanto informed that his administration has dispatched the head of North Jakarta Land Office to the location to carry out plot identification in person.

“Some time ago, the head of North Jakarta Land Office was instructed to go to the location to identify which plot belongs to people, which plot belongs to Pertamina, which plot belongs to (private) companies,” he informed at a press conference here on Tuesday.

Locals will be informed once the results of the identification are ready so that they can know the plot’s ownership and legality for certain, Tjahjanto added.

Meanwhile, General Secretary of the ministryHimawan Arief Sugotodisclosed that since a while ago, the government has had concerns regarding the plots around the oil depot, which house plenty of residences.

“We will check. If it is people’s land, there will be land appointment. But if the land belongs to Pertamina, there will be other arrangements, which we will discuss with Pertamina,” he elaborated.

Sugoto said that buffer zones were supposed to be established in areas adjacent to the oil depot to anticipate the risk of fire.

fire broke out at Pertamina’s Plumpangoil depot in NorthJakarta at 8 p.m. local time on March 3, 2023. The fire was extinguished around 11 p.m. local time.

The Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department dispatched 52 fire trucks and at least 250 personnel to put out the fire.

t least 19 people–14 adults and 5 children–died in the incident. Three children are reportedly still missing.
