Minister to directly oversee land certification for houses of worship

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Hadi Tjahjanto, emphasized that he would directly oversee land certification for houses of worship and Islamic boarding schools without discrimination.”In certifying houses of worship and Islamic boarding schools, I will directly supervise the process. This ministry will serve land certification for all houses of worship without discrimination,” he noted in a press conference at the 2023 ATR/BPN National Working Meeting in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Tjahjanto noted that this step aligns with President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi’s) direction at the National Coordination Meeting of Regional Heads and Regional Leaders Coordination Forums (FKPD) across Indonesia at the Sentul International Convention Center, West Java, January 17.

To optimize land certification for houses of worship and Islamic boarding schools, Tjahjanto noted that his ministry has launched the National Movement for Certification of Houses of Worship and Islamic Boarding Schools.

“During this working meeting, we are launching the National Movement for Certification of Houses of Worship and Islamic Boarding Schools,” he remarked.

This year’s working meeting brought up the theme of “Increasing Investment Through Digital Transformation and Legal Certainty in the Spatial Planning and Land Sector.”

The minister affirmed that this theme aligned with the government’s strategic policy directions as set out in the 2021-2024 Digital Indonesia Roadmap. The road map contains the government’s efforts in the provision of open and integrated digital government institutions to improve public services, among other things.

“Then, according to the theme, this national working meeting aims to strengthen the role of the ATR/BPN Ministry in increasing investment. This is in line with the direction of President Jokowi as well,” he added.

This year’s ATR/BPN Ministry National Working Meeting was held on March 6-9, 2023, and was attended by all ranks, starting from high-ranking, middle, and primary officials, heads of provincial BPN regional services, to heads of land services from all districts and cities throughout Indonesia.
