Four million tourists projected to visit Sukabumi during Eid holiday

The Sukabumi District Police has projected the number of tourists visiting Sukabumi District, West Java Province, during the 2022 Eid al-Fitr holiday period to reach four million.

“It is possible that on Eid al-Fitr (holiday period) this year, the number of tourists visiting several natural attractions, especially beaches, will skyrocket because the government has allowed people to celebrate Eid in their hometowns,” Sukabumi Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Dedy Darmawansyah stated here on Monday.

Darmawansyah has estimated that tourists would visit Sukabumi District from Wednesday or two days after Eid. Hence, the police has readied various strategies to ensure security, especially in anticipating traffic congestion at several tourist attractions.

One of the efforts made by the Sukabumi District Police is engineering the traffic flow to the Palabuhanratu Beach tourist attraction, precisely at Simpang Gunungbutak, Palabuhanratu District, which serves as the entrance and exit for tourists.

Traffic flow engineering is aimed at regulating the entry and exit of tourists’ vehicles to prevent congestion. In addition, joint personnel have been readied on routes to tourist attractions, especially on roads to the Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Geopark area.

Apart from conducting traffic engineering, officers will also continue to alert people on the areas prone to traffic accidents.

“Tourists who will come are likely from outside the (Sukabumi District) region, such as Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek), and Bandung. For security, we have also alerted joint personnel at tourist attractions,” he added.

As of Monday (May 2), the vehicular flow at tourist places was still relatively normal. However, tourists had started to visit the area around the Palabuhanratu tourist attraction and its surroundings, though the number was still low in general.
