BRIN facilitates agriculture, fishery product testing through PPIP

Jakarta The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) facilitates BRIN agriculture and fishery product testing through the Agriculture Innovation Product Testing (PPIP) program to support national food independence.

Agriculture and fishery technology as well as innovation play an important role in bolstering productivity and improving product quality, BRIN Head Laksana Tri Handoko noted through a statement on BRIN’s website on Friday.

As a result, this can increase added value and support the nation’s competitiveness in national development, he affirmed.

The PPIP facilitation program was designed to expedite the production of agriculture innovation within the broader context, including in fishery, that is ready to be utilized broadly.

According to Handoko, agriculture and fishery technology and innovation product testing should be based on trusted data to ensure the security and benefit of these products.

The PPIP program also encourages synergy and collaboration among the government, research and development institutions, universities, testing institutions, and the industry.

BRIN’s Research and Facilitation Acting Deputy Agus Haryono noted that currently, the government was striving to bolster innovation in the agriculture sector for food resiliency through the mastery of research in technology, infrastructure, and human resources.

To support the effort, BRIN has rolled out a funding scheme through the PPIP program in a competitive and open manner for all researchers in research institutions, universities, and the industry.

He expects that the program can expedite the testing of products from research results that can be proven scientifically.

As a result, in the end, the PPIP facilitation scheme activity can ensure the research result’s benefits before it can be utilized by the people.

BRIN’s official, Edi Hilmawan, also noted that the agency aims to have 30 licensing partnerships with the industry or businessmen to bolster invention and innovation utilization and productivity.
