Training for racing officers has improved: MGPA

(ANTARA) – The president director of state-run racing promotor Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), Priandhi Satria, has said that the training program for personnel participating in Indonesian racing events has been strengthened over the years. The effort has resulted in an increasing number of residents living around the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, becoming involved in the implementation of World Superbike (WSBK) and MotoGP, especially as marshals, he said.

“In this event (2023 WSBK), there are more Indonesian (personnel and marshals than foreign officers) — as in the 2022 event,” he told ANTARA at the circuit on Friday.

The number of racing personnel recruited from Jakarta and Yogyakarta has declined, while the number of personnel from around the Mandalika area has increased, he noted.

“Thus, the technical coaching and training (held so far) have improved the ability of each (local personnel),” the MGPA president director added.

He said that most of the personnel and committee members involved in the first implementation of the WSBK and the MotoGP at the circuit — in November 2021 and March 2022, respectively — were foreigners.

“In 2021 (WSBK), Malaysian officers were heavily involved as marshals. In the 2022 WSBK, it (the number of Malaysian marshals) dropped to 34,” he added.

Meanwhile, for the 2023 WSBK, his party has only employed one foreign marshal, since the officer is the holder of a super license from the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) as well as Dorna, which owns the commercial rights for MotoGP and WSBK.

“Dorna has acknowledged that the ability of the Indonesian (racing) officers and experts is sufficient and quite good,” Satria said.

He further said that his party has continued to make efforts to improve the convenience of the staff, racers, racing crew, and spectators.

His party has improved the condition of the parking lots and access to the circuit as well as increased the number of shuttle buses for spectators.

The 2023 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship Indonesian Round is being held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit from March 3 to 5.

Human development crucial to realize Golden Indonesia 2045: Minister

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy underscored the importance of intensifying the human development program, from upstream to downstream, to realize Golden Indonesia 2045.The human development program is intended to produce superior, quality, and competitive generation with integrity and good moral character, he noted through a statement, Saturday.

“To produce quality human resources, we can begin from the upstream by preparing future mothers, who will produce a golden generation in the future,” he said.

“Women should be the center of human development. Thus, the preparation has to be done since adolescent years,” he stressed.

The minister underscored the importance of meeting teenage girls’ nutritional requirements in order to maintain their health and prevent anemia.

Being anemic during pregnancy increases the risk of giving birth to stunted infants characterized by low weight during birth, he cautioned.

Hence, in addition to consuming a balanced nutritionally-dense diet with animal protein, teenage girls should routinely consume blood booster tablets to prevent anemia, Effendy stressed.

“Blood booster tablets for teenage girls are very important for their womb’s health in the future,” he explained.

“This is an intervention that should be considered, so that teenage girls, who will become mothers, do not experience anemia, which can cause children that they conceived experience stunting,” he stated.

The minister also sought active participation from families, specifically parents, to ensure sound health of their daughters and to make it a point to see that they receive balanced nutrition that high in animal protein.

ccording to the result of the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia in 2022 declined to 21.6 percent, from 24.4 percent in 2021.

Minister emphasizes need for structured planning in train procurement

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita accentuated that planning for train procurement should be more structured and systematic so as to enable the domestic train industry to cater to the needs.”The planning for train (procurement) needs must be more structured and systematic in the medium and long term,” he noted in Jakarta, Saturday.

The minister then outlined three areas of focus to strike a balance between the public transportation needs and the domestic industry.

The three aspects are utilization of the domestic industry, more job opportunities if the government opts to add new features to the old system, and maintaining means of public transportation, he explained.

ccording to Kartasasmita, the government still considers the option to import trains as an addition to the existing means of public transportation, although it is not a priority.

“Import is still an option but not a priority, especially for used goods. Policies for public transport procurement can be in the form of retrofits or a combination of retrofits and imports,” he remarked.

Retrofit is an approach to add more features or components to existing structures, in this case, to trains for public transport in Indonesia. This approach can prolong the trains’ usage time, thereby annulling the need to import or buy new ones.
