Health Ministry’s Digital Transformation Office (DTO) representative Daniel Oscar Baskoro highlighted several challenges faced, including human resources and technological capabilities, in realizing integrated and technology-oriented health service transformation in Indonesia.
“This transformation not only focuses on digitalization but also the approach on the platform and its standardization equalization. Technological governance should be more integrated in order to (provide) better service,” he remarked at the Digital Transformation Virtual Expo here on Thursday.
According to Baskoro, digital literacy in Indonesia must continue to be enhanced, so that the use of available technology and services can be more optimal.
“Technology literacy in each region is different, so standardization is necessary. By pushing literacy, society and public officers can utilize data to make better regulations,” he remarked.
In his presentation, Baskoro pointed out that the Ministry of Health had readied a roadmap for health transformation priority activities that will be implemented until 2024.
The key efforts for bringing about transformation include the integration and development of health data systems, healthcare applications, and the health technology ecosystem. Baskoro expects that it can improve health policies through accurate, up-to-date, and complete data in addition to an ecosystem that connects the government, industry, and society.
In 2022, the Health Ministry plans to develop a big data system that is based on integrated electronic health records. Moreover, the ministry is engaged in telemedicine expansion and implementing a regulatory sandbox based on biotech innovation, he pointed out.
He affirmed that the Ministry of Health will also build a digital health ecosystem platform “Indonesia Health Services” (IHS) that facilitates data connectivity, analytics, and services to support and integrate various health applications in Indonesia.
“Moreover, the digital technology ecosystem in handling the pandemic has now digitized all aspects of the COVID-19 response based on the 3T strategies (testing, tracing, treatment) and vaccination,” Baskoro remarked.
