Vanessa Angel’s son needs trauma recovery assistance: KPAI

Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) member Jasra Putra has said that GS, the only son of the late Indonesian celebrity Vanessa Angel, needs assistance to recover from the grief of losing his parents.

GS is still too young to understand his parents’ passing, Putra remarked in a press release here on Friday.

“The loss often leaves a deep mark on victims. Moreover, (GS) suddenly lost his parents. As a toddler, GS still cannot comprehend why his parents left, so it will take a good mentoring process,” he said.

Later, the companion helping GS can explain the loss in terms he can grasp, and help him process the feelings of sadness and turn to positive things so that GS can be happy and cheerful again, he added.

“The sadness that exists should be turned into positive things. For example, by inviting him to pray and understand that humans are created by God, and death is God’s form of love for humans,” Putra expounded.

Those efforts, Putra added, should motivate GS while he grieves.

“Encourage the child to tell what his parents like the most and invite him to do the same,” he said.

KPAI expressed its condolences over the deaths of Angel and her husband in a car crash in Jombang, East Java.

On Thursday afternoon, Angel and her husband, Febri Andriansyah, were traveling in a white car with the license plate B-1284-BJU when it crashed on the Jombang-Mojokerto Toll Road KM 672+300/A.

The preliminary cause of the accident has been deemed as driver’s fatigue. The car was reportedly being driven fast when it swerved and hit a concrete road barrier and was thrown as far as 30 meters.

Angel and her husband died in the accident. Meanwhile, the driver, a housekeeper, and GS (Vanessa Angel’s son) survived.
