The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry has sent 82 vocational education lecturers for a certified internship program overseas.
“This program aims to answer the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, namely vocational higher education lecturers who are demanded to have competence, insight, and knowledge related to the development and dynamics of international-scale industries,” Acting Secretary of the ministry’s Directorate General of Vocational Education Saryadi informed here on Monday.
The dispatch of lecturers is part of the “2022 Internship Program for Strengthening Governance of Universities with Global Reputation through Competency, Professional, and Internships Certifications.”
During their internship at several top universities and industries abroad, participants will be required to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible. They will also be required to network and establish cooperation with university destinations.
“After finishing this international internship, training, and competency certification program, it is hoped that the lecturers will become agents of change and leaders of innovation projects for their home universities,” Saryadi said.
Meanwhile, director of institutions and resources of vocational higher education at the ministry, Henri Tambunan, said that the second batch of the overseas program has been the largest group.
The 2022 Sertikom scholarship overseas program is being implemented under cooperation between the Education Ministry and the Indonesia Endowment Funds for Education (LPDP).
Participants who registered for the program underwent a long and very strict selection process, which was carried out accountably and transparently and involved 48 national reviewers.
A total of 744 vocational education lecturers out of the 4 thousand who registered for the program successfully passed the selection.
Under the overseas scheme, 194 vocational lecturers will be sent to 13 universities and industries in four countries, namely the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, and Singapore.
