State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir pressed for transformation of human resources in SOEs to be sustainable during the event to unveil the SOE Youth Mentorship Program here on Wednesday.
“From the start, I am committed to ensuring that this transformation occurs in the SOE Ministry and is not just based on fleeting thoughts or one-sided ego. I want to ensure that this really occurs, and it is sustainable,” Thohir affirmed.
Age is an inevitable limitation in human life, Thohir noted.
Hence, the minister deems it important for future leaders, youngsters, women, or others currently in a position of power to conduct transformation or to formulate and apply a policy based on sustainability, he emphasized.
The minister expressed concern over this sustainability not being continued. He believed that this focus on sustainability is already being taken in account for each shift in SOE leadership, though the problem lies in whether this will continue.
To this end, Thohir expects the Forum Human Capital Indonesia to function as a driver in order to bring about this transformation. From the onset, he opined that the community-based program is more sustainable than the policy-based program pushed by an individual or a leadership that has limitations.
Thohir noted that the community progresses from year to year, due to which he is keen to make significant changes in the SOE Forum Human Capital Indonesia to not only ensure that the younger generation takes up leadership positions in SOEs but also to guarantee gender equality.
“Hence, I wanted to ensure that the policies that we have agreed upon together really do occur,” Thohir asserted.
During the event, the minister also expressed keenness to ensure the realization of job creation and new entrepreneurs program to help citizens.
