Governor Kamil offers seven new economic directions to South Korea

Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) – West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil offered seven new economic directions in West Java to South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Lee Sang Deok during a visit to Pakuan Building, Bandung City.The seven new economic directions after COVID-19 can be an opportunity for South Korean investors to invest in West Java, the governor affirmed.

“There are seven new economies after COVID-19 that will be the focus of West Java. Hopefully, the South Korean entrepreneurs can take advantage of them,” Kamil noted in a written statement received here, Wednesday.

The seven new economies are increasing investment, channeling focus on the food security sector, improving the quality of health services, increasing aspects of manufacturing based on the Industrial Revolution 4.0, developing the digital economy, scaling the green economy, and strengthening local tourism.

“Especially for investment, we will build 13 new industrial cities in the Rebana Metropolitan area that will become new growth centers in northern West Java,” he remarked.

During the meeting, Governor Kamil stated that West Java’s economy is currently in a good condition.

Investment realization in West Java in 2022 had reached Rp174.6 trillion and South Korea was the fourth country, with the largest investment value in West Java, he noted.

“West Java’s economy is doing well, and 60 percent of the national industry is in West Java. South Korea is in the top four, with the largest investment value,” he stated.

The governor then handed over an investment opportunity guidebook in West Java to Ambassador Deok that can be useful for South Korean investors.

In the near future, Governor Kamil will also undertake a working visit to South Korea to establish cooperation with several provinces and persuade entrepreneurs to invest in West Java.

“I will go to South Korea, next week. There is cooperation with several provinces, and I will persuade entrepreneurs to come to West Java,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Deok gave a positive response regarding investment opportunities in West Java.

He will offer seven new economic directions and the benefits of investing in West Java to entrepreneurs in South Korea.

“I think the Chungnam Provincial Government and their entrepreneurs can explore the seven new economies in West Java,” he stated.

part from discussing investment opportunities, his visited the West Java Governor’s official residence to also introduce himself and maintain sound relations.

He recently began serving as South Korean ambassador to Indonesia since January 4, 2023.

“West Java is very important for South Korea. Therefore, the relationship must be maintained properly,” he concluded.
