The Jakarta Environment Office has readied 1,260 personnel to conduct clean-up activities during New Year’s Eve 2022.
“When required, the orange troops on standby can be quickly deployed to the field,” Head of the Jakarta Environment Office, Asep Kuswanto, stated here on Wednesday.
Kuswanto remarked that the number of staff to be dispatched was less as compared to the previous year before the COVID-19 pandemic, which reached around seven thousand people, on account of the government placing restrictions on New Year parties and celebrations.
They placed restrictions on celebrations and parties at public areas, as it might garner crowds.
The 1,260 officers comprise garbage truck drivers, crews, and teams that picked up garbage.
“In each sub-district, we dispatch at least 30 officers to stand by. In addition to personnel from the City Administration Sub-Department and the Sub-district Acting Unit of Environment, we also deploy officers from the Water Agency’s Cleaning Unit to assist and cooperate with the Village Public Facility Handler,” Kuswanto added.
His administration has also provided a channel to put forth complaints about trash handling. Apart from the Jaki Application, the public can also report to the Environment Office or the Jakarta Provincial Government.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan had issued Governor Decree Number 1473 on the implementation of Level I restrictions on Community Activities.
This decree listed special restrictions during Christmas and New Year that came into effect from December 24, 2021, to January 2, 2022.
