Dominica’s Anichi Resort & Spa provides a 2% annual return while under construction

Roseau, Oct. 31, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Anichi Resort & Spa will be providing a 2% annual return to investors despite being under construction. The management of the much-anticipated five-star luxury resort and spa in Dominica has said that the project is in full swing, and that once construction is completed, annual returns will be based on the resort’s operation.

Following an official update, an estimated 70% of the project is now complete; this includes the flooring as well as an extensive electricity infrastructure. The resort is being built on 12 acres of land, with 128 rooms. I will host world-class amenities, such as a lagoon swimming pool, an infinity pool, restaurants, a business centre and many others. Overlooking a picturesque beach, the resort will tastefully blend its modern architecture with the landscape’s tropical foliage.

Developed by Oriental Developers (Caribbean) Ltd, the resort will form part of the Autograph Collection, a premium international brand developed by renowned hotelier Marriott International. This links the resort to more than 100 luxury lifestyle hotels across 30 countries and territories – all of which have been constructed as part of Autograph Collection Hotels. Furthermore, Anichi Resort will be managed by Highgate, a dominant player in major US gateway cities with a growing footprint in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Anichi Resort & Spa is also one of the premium real estate options approved by the Dominican government’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme. The CBI Index of 2022, published by the PWM Magazine of the Financial Times, recognises it as the “World’s Best Citizenship by Investment Programme”. The minimum investment threshold for Anichi Resort & Spa is $220,000 (USD), an expenditure which also comes with lifetime Dominican citizenship and property ownership.

The resort will bolster the tourism sector and generate extensive employment for locals. The country already occupies a notable position, ranking first among 25 other Caribbean islands – winning due to its lush green jungles, hot springs and striking black-sand beaches. Annually, scores of investors fly to Dominica owing to its large number of government-approved investment projects. The Citizenship by Investment Programme of Dominica allows these individuals to purchase freehold shares in government-approved properties.

Anichi Resort & Spa provides investors and CBI applicants with a Return on Investment (ROI) as well as a route towards diversifying their portfolios and planning their wealth

The Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, praised the CBI Programme, “Thanks to the real-estate investment option of the Citizenship by Investment Programme,” he noted, “the country is catching the attraction of travel-enthusiasts and is now known for [its] luxury tourism offering. Under the Citizenship Programme, investors looking to expand their real estate portfolio have the opportunity to invest in established luxury hotel brands and villas.”

Dominica’s real estate investment option has long provided premium, luxury projects for investment. A prior example of this is Secret Bay, a real estate property which paid out more than $1 million (USD) in returns to investors. The Residences at Secret Bay also promises great returns, having drawn more than 100 Citizenship by Investment (CBI) owners. The resort has already won a number of awards, and it is anticipated that Anichi Resort & Spa will likewise be counted as one of the jewels in Dominica’s real estate crown.

Anichi Resort promises to be a meaningful asset during this time of global uncertainty. CS Global Partners, a legal consulting firm working in the investment citizenship field, noted that, beyond the resort’s world-class architecture and lush surrounding environment, “[t]he project also brings in interest from investors keen to participate in the development through Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme. Once completed, the resort promises to transform Dominica’s tourism sector while also boosting employment for the local community”.

Concurrently, Dominica is witnessing the construction of several other hotels, including a Hilton hotel, which will also fall under the government-approved real estate investment options of the country’s CBI programme. Many of these properties are being built to be sustainable and climate-resilient, with the continued construction of such resorts and hotels positioning the island as a top destination for eco-luxury resorts.

Dominica’s real estate is thus proving to be a popular option among investors and high net-worth individuals (HNWIs). Bolstering investment is the strength of the country’s CBI programme. The credibility and trustworthiness of Dominica’s programme has been maintained since its launch almost three decades ago, and it has been ranked the world’s best CBI programme for its sixth consecutive year. Alongside alternative citizenship, the Citizenship by Investment Programme of Dominica provides a number of other opportunities to investors. These include:

  • The ability to become a global citizen and be part of a global community transcends Dominica’s land borders.
  • The ability to hold multiple citizenships.
  • A citizenship that is granted for life and can be passed on to future generations.
  • An opportunity to provide families and children with a peaceful, stable, safe and welcoming home.
  • Access to countless business opportunities, with the option of portfolio diversification.
  • Enhanced opportunities for wealth planning and expanding business overseas.
  • A stable currency, with Dominica’s currency, the East Caribbean Dollar (XCD), pegged to USD.

These factors, combined with alternative citizenship, present individuals with a rich array of business and personal advantages. As the success and promise of the Anichi Resort & Spa attest, the island along with its CBI programme offers investment with unrivalled returns.

Indonesian student clinches gold medal in Int’l Blockchain Olympiad

An Indonesian high-school student received a gold medal in the 5th International Blockchain Olympiad, or the 2022 IBCOL, for his research and implementation in a blockchain agriculture project.

The twelfth grader, Collin Junus from Jakarta Intercultural School, successfully beat 15 other competitors from various countries across the globe in the competition’s SDG 2 category and won the gold medal on October 27, as cited from a statement on Monday.

“I hope this award would inspire other Indonesian students to maximize their ambitions and innovate,” Junus affirmed.

He had spent a year researching and implementing a blockchain agriculture project called “NASI Token” in the fields of Bali and Cianjur.

The project aims to make the rice supply chain transparent by collecting data on transactions, he explained.

In preparation for his submission in this year’s Olympiad, Junus had experience from last year’s IBCOL in which he represented Indonesia in the finals round held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and bagged the merit award.

He has also founded a Metaverse club in his high school, which then became a blockchain innovation hub, with over 100 members. Its mission is to connect the bridges of modern technology and financial literacy among high school students.

Additionally, he founded Cryptography4Everyone, a movement with the Indonesian Ministry of Education to create a cryptography curriculum in national high schools, set to be used in math and computer science classes.

The International Blockchain Olympiad is an annual blockchain solution design competition for students and fresh graduates from any area of study or industry.

According to its official website, this year’s competition revolved around building the foundations for peace and prosperity of the planet and people, as envisioned by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Lampung to reactivate COVID command posts amid XBB threat

The government of Lampung province will reactivate COVID-19 handling command posts from the district and city to the village levels to curb the transmission of the XBB sub-variant of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

“Regarding the XBB variant, it needs quick anticipatory measures because currently, everything is slowly recovering,” assistant I for government and people’s welfare at the Lampung provincial government, Qodratul Ikhwan, said here on Monday.

According to him, the reactivation of the command posts is aimed at supporting the surveillance of COVID-19 cases in the community.

“We continue to urge for the reactivation of COVID-19 command posts. For the province-level command post, it still exists,” he informed.

The Lampung provincial government has also continued efforts to accelerate COVID-19 vaccinations.

“Currently, in Lampung, it (the coverage) has reached 80 percent for vaccination,” Ikhwan said.

The booster dose vaccination has been expedited to improve the community’s immunity against COVID-19 transmission, he informed.

Those who have been vaccinated could recover faster from an infection because of immunity acquired from vaccination, he explained.

In Lampung province, out of the 7,558,816 targeted recipients, the first dose has been provided to 81.63 percent, the second dose to 65.00 percent, and the third dose or booster to 19.82 percent of the recipients.

The first case of COVID-19 in Indonesia was confirmed in March 2020. According to data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of October 30, 2022, the nation has recorded 6,490,622 COVID-19 cases, 6,307,481 recoveries, and 158,597 deaths.

Meanwhile, as of October 30, Lampung province has recorded a total of 76,116 COVID-19 infections, 71,746 recoveries, and 4,204 deaths, the task force’s data showed.

Tropical cyclone Nalgae moving away from Indonesia: BMKG

Tropical cyclone Nalgae in the South China Sea is moving away from Indonesian territory, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

BMKG forecaster Nurul Pramiftah said here on Monday that the tropical cyclone was observed moving at a speed of three knots or five kilometers per hour.

She said that based on the results of an updated analysis at 7 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Monday, the intensity of the tropical cyclone is predicted to tend to increase in the next 24 hours along with its movement to the north.

“In the analysis, the tropical cyclone is located about 1,700 kilometers to the north of Tarakan, North Kalimantan, with a maximum wind speed of 60 knots or 110 km per hour,” she informed.

The tropical cyclone will indirectly impact weather conditions in Indonesia in the next 24 hours, she added.

The cyclone may trigger rain with moderate to heavy intensity, which could be accompanied by strong winds, in parts of the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, West Kalimantan, and North Kalimantan, Pramiftah said.

In addition, the tropical cyclone may also cause high waves in some parts of Indonesia.

Waves with heights of 1.25 to 2.5 meters are likely to be seen in the territorial waters of the Anambas Islands, the waters of the Talaud Islands, the northern waters of Halmahera, the Halmahera Sea, the northern waters of West Papua to Papua, and the Pacific Ocean in the north of Halmahera to Papua.

Number of leaders confirmed to attend G20 Summit ‘high’: minister

The number of G20 leaders confirmed to attend the G20 Summit in Bali on November 15–16, 2022 is very high, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has informed.

“Right now, the level of (G20) leaders’ attendance is very high. We are still waiting for confirmation (of attendance) from several (G20 leaders),” she said in the Presidential Palace compounds here on Monday.

However, she refused to divulge the exact number of G20 leaders who have confirmed their plans to attend the summit.

Several leaders have not confirmed their attendance on account of special situations in their countries, the minister said.

Citing an example, she said the Brazilian leader has not confirmed whether he will attend the summit because of general elections in the country to elect a president. The new president will take office on January 1, 2023.

“We are still waiting for (confirmation) from Brazil about who will come,” Marsudi said.

Newly installed G20 leaders such as British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni have confirmed their participation in the G20 Summit, she added.

“We also have received confirmation of attendance from two new G20 leaders. The British and Italian prime ministers have just informed (that they will attend the summit), and I have reported it to Mr. President,” she informed.

Most of the G20 leaders will arrive in Bali on November 14, 2022, she said.

“On average, (they) will leave Bali on November 16, 2022, because some of them will fly to Bangkok for the APEC Summit,” she added.

Govt pushes greater health protocol compliance amid global COVID spike

Government spokesperson for COVID-19 Handling, Reisa Broto Asmoro, has asked the community to strengthen health protocol compliance as COVID-19 cases are showing an increasing trend again worldwide.

“If we look at them (COVID-19 positive cases) globally, unfortunately, they are rising again. Indeed, we can connect it (the rise in cases) with the new variant, which is currently spreading and being found in many countries, namely the XBB variant,” she said at a health broadcast, which was followed online on Monday.

According to Asmoro, the global rise in COVID-19 cases has been linked to the emergence of the new Omicron sub-variant XBB, which has been identified since August 2022.

Vigilance through health protocols must be strengthened because the XBB has entered Indonesia and also caused a surge in cases in several neighboring countries, such as Singapore, proving that COVID-19 is still a threat to Indonesia.

“We must be more careful. If we want to curb XBB transmission in Indonesia, of course, we must keep in mind the health protocols,” Asmoro said.

Besides implementing the health protocols, the community must remain alert to the level of transmission risk in the environment around them, she added.

The easing of restrictions should not become a reason for people to underestimate COVID-19, which could lead to a surge in infections in the country, she said.

Asmoro further noted that even though viral mutations are natural and increasingly show the virus’s weakness, the potential for dangerous transmission can still occur at any time. Thus, they cannot be ignored.

“Please be careful again so that we do not get infected and infect other people. Let’s strengthen the health protocols for the time being until we can estimate the condition,” she said.

President asks Agriculture Minister to check national rice stocks

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has instructed Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo to check data on national rice stocks with regional authorities to ensure rice availability and price stability.

“I have been given one week to recheck the (rice stocks) factual data together with all officials, governors, and district heads,” Limpo informed after a meeting with the President at the Presidential Palace here on Monday.

He said that when President Widodo inquired about rice stocks and prices during the meeting, he assured him that as per the ministry’s data, rice stock availability in Indonesia is adequate.

“Moreover, according to the BPS (Statistics Indonesia) and our researchers’ prognosis, we record the highest rice production of 18.3 million tons in our March–April harvest period, and we again record more than 13 million tons in the August–October harvest. Hence, the BPS data showed that our stocks are assured, with some 60 percent being held by our people,” Limpo informed.

The minister said that Widodo also asked him to ensure there are sufficient stocks by preparing reserve stocks with the State Logistics Board (Bulog).

“I will complete the task within the tight deadline (set by the President),” the minister affirmed.

Sufficient rice stocks are expected to keep rice prices from fluctuating, he said, adding that the ministry is coordinating with the Trade Minister, Bulog, and National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) to monitor rice stocks and their availability.

“I believe that the stocks are adequate. Our data showed that in 2022, we recorded high land productivity. Just inquire about the data, there are no rotten agriculture land and no land extremely impacted by disasters,” Limpo said.
