Solo, C Java (ANTARA) – The Solo-Yogyakarta-Kulonprogo toll road would be completed by 2024 as land acquisition for the section is expected to be finished by the first quarter of this year, Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono informed.The land acquisition for the Solo-Yogyakarta section has reached 94 percent completion, he said during a working visit to ColomaduSub-district, Karanganyar District, Central Java Province, on Monday.
He visited the sub-district to review the construction progress of the Trans-Java toll road section.
ccording to Hadimuljono, the development of the Solo-Yogyakarta-Kulonprogo toll road has reached 49 percent completion.
“Insya Allah (God willing), the remaining 51 percent of its construction will get completed by December 2023,” he said.
People have been waiting for the completion of the toll road amid a significant increase in vehicle volumes on the Solo-Yogyakarta-Kulonprogo road. “Some 20 thousand to 25 thousand vehicles pass through the road every day,” he noted.
The Kartasura intersection on the Solo-Yogyakarta route is currently becoming quite crowded, he added.
The Solo-Yogyakarta-Kulonprogo toll road project is part of the government’s super-priority programs considering its significance for Central Java and Yogyakarta’s Joglosemar golden triangle, he said.
Therefore, while striving to complete the Yogyakarta-Solo toll road section to boost the development of Yogyakarta, Solo, and Semarang’s golden triangle areas, the government will also commence the Bawen-Yogyakarta development project, he informed.
“We hope this golden triangle will boost economic activities in the provinces of Central Java and Yogyakarta,” Hadimuljono said.
Through easy access to the interconnected toll roads, passengers of international cruise ships anchoring at Semarang city’s Tanjung Mas Port, for instance, would hopefully prefer staying at hotels in cities such as Magelang and Yogyakarta instead of their cabins on the vessels, he said.
Since the first and second leadership terms of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), infrastructure development has held special significance, with the notable extension of toll roads bearing testament to it.
ccording to the Public Works and Housing Ministry, during President Widodo’s first leadership term, at least 941 kilometers (km) of toll roads and 3,423 km of national roads were constructed.
Work on the Trans-Java Highway connecting the ferry port in Merak, Banten province, and Surabaya, East Java province, has also been completed, thereby reducing the travel time and logistics costs.
s part of the central government’s prioritized development projects, toll roads are not merely being constructed in Java, but also outside the island, such as in Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.
In Sumatra Island, several sections of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road have been completed, and the government is seeking to complete all sections by 2024.
Work on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road project is still underway. State-owned construction companies involved in the project have been striving ceaselessly to ensure it is completed within the deadline.
