Built exclusively for data clouds, the Tresata Digital Business Platform (DBP) empowers businesses to liberate their data from current challenges that limit use

This represents one of the biggest opportunities in software, addressing a $200 billion market of businesses that struggle to use all of their data. With 68% of available enterprise data unused today, DBP represents an opportunity for exponential growth by leveraging the exabytes of data in the cloud and putting them to work.

“Tresata presents a paradigm shift in how enterprises achieve, monitor and manage usable data assets. The result is the ability to support and manage each of them in a unique way by adding loads of value in a differentiated and personalized way,” said Mike Leone, senior analyst, data platforms, analytics and AI, Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG).

As the first data usability system built exclusively for data clouds, DBP comes with pre-built integrations to internal data warehouses, data mesh architectures, external data sources, and transactional and analytics systems. DBP has been shown to dramatically increase speed to market and amplify business value across the digital transformation initiatives a business must implement today.

Having worked with several of the largest companies in the world across multiple industries for the past decade, Tresata believes making data usable and available is key to every organization’s digital transformation. TELUS Agriculture expands its scope, becoming TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods

Evolving to better transform and benefit the larger value chain, from producers to consumers

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, July 26, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TELUS is broadening its business strategy to deliver data insights and a wide range of integrated digital solutions to customers beyond the agricultural sector, and changing the name of its agriculture unit to TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods as a signal of its commitment. Rapidly growing its assets and capabilities since its launch nearly two years ago, the newly rebranded unit is now well positioned to connect participants across the entire value chain, from seed growers to food and consumer goods retailers, and enable them to make sound, agile, data-driven business decisions to minimize costs and waste. Leveraging the latest technology, the industry expertise of its global team, artificial intelligence and TELUS’ Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities, TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods aims to vastly improve the way food and other goods are produced, distributed and consumed, and how these processes impact net profitability and consumer value, with a view to alleviating unnecessary strain on our natural resources. Currently, more than one in five TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods customers are manufacturers of packaged foods, beverages and products that include everything from cosmetics to bakeware and batteries.

“At TELUS, we are proud to direct our human and technological innovation toward answering some of the most significant social challenges facing our world. This includes ensuring global access to a nutritious food supply that is safe, secure and connected, whilst at the same time, helping to effectively manage the disconcerting amount of goods that never end up in the hands of consumers due to waste, spoilage, quality issues and inaccurate forecasting,” said Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS. “Through our expanded TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods business, our team is committed to leveraging our technology-driven efforts to optimize the production of food and consumer goods in a manner that is more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Together, we are caring for the planet for future generations, and improving outcomes for citizens and families around the world.”

Pre-consumer waste presents a host of significant issues, notably as it piles up in the world’s increasingly overburdened landfills, which are among the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions. It’s estimated that at least one third of food alone is lost or wasted globally before it reaches shopping baskets. By tackling the agriculture and consumer goods industries’ complex data harmonization and management challenges, and putting data to work generating real-time actionable intelligence, TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods is making it easier for value chain participants to collaborate and enhance processes, allowing them to adapt more swiftly to evolving consumer preferences.

“Our solutions digitize and optimize key business functions along the entire value chain, from production to trade promotion management, improving efficiency and profitability. We believe that by better connecting these solutions and using the data insights that they offer, we can create more value for the entire value chain. At the same time, we can improve the safety, quality and sustainability of food and other goods, all in a way that is traceable and clear to the end consumer,” says John Raines, President of TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods. TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods is the largest, independent data insights and digital technology player in this sector, and our new name captures the breadth of the market we now serve.”

TELUS Agriculture’s expansion has included the addition of a series of assets to the business unit’s unmatched and growing portfolio, namely Blacksmith Applications in 2021. The U.S.-based company is a leading provider of trade promotion management, optimization and analytics (TPx) solutions for consumer packaged goods manufacturers and retailers. With a presence on five continents, the TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods team now works with six of the 10 top food and beverage suppliers and nine out of the 10 largest agriculture companies in the world.

Golden Indonesia target based on clear calculations: Mahfud

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD has said he is optimistic the Golden Indonesia 2045 is achievable since it is based on clear calculations.

“There is a debate about whether Indonesia will become an advanced country in 2045? (I want to say) that is correct because it has been calculated. The government has calculated about what will occur in that year,” Mahfud remarked during the “Image of the Centenary of Indonesia” dialogue at Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Tuesday.

Indonesia will achieve its “ideal stage”—as envisioned by the nation’s founders when they declared independence in 1945—on the centenary of its independence, he said.

The ideal stage of Golden Indonesia, the coordinating minister said, has been outlined in the preamble to the nation’s Constitution.

Presidential regulations passed by then-President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in 2010 and President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in 2016 have reiterated the commitment to achieving the Golden Indonesia vision on the centenary of the nation’s independence, he added.

The presidential regulations envisage Golden Indonesia as a united, advanced, just, and prosperous country post independence, he pointed out.

“We omit the (first point of) ‘independence’ because we have been independent, but now we are not advanced yet, not yet united, not just yet, and not prosperous,” the coordinating minister remarked.

The government has calculated the income per capita at the time the Golden Indonesia goal is expected to be achieved in 2045 at US$23.9 thousand, he informed.

Moreover, the government has also calculated other aspects of the upstream and downstream natural resources, as well as the potential of human resources developed by national universities, Mahfud added.

“We are now part of G20 and are among the 20 major countries; tomorrow, we will be among the top five,” he remarked.

Despite the optimistic forecast, the coordinating minister emphasized that the participation of national stakeholders in maintaining national unity and improving scientific and technological advances remains essential.

“Without that, we will not achieve the Golden Indonesia goal. (We also need the) second, sustainable economic development, the third is even distribution of development, and the fourth is to consolidate national resilience and government administration,” Mahfud expounded.

Two million trees planted under GNRM program so far: minister

A total of two million trees have been planted so far under the Mental Revolution National Movement (GNRM), Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, has informed.

The government expects to meet the GNRM target of planting 10 million trees by the end of the year, he said during a 10 million trees planting event at Hasanuddin University here on Tuesday.

“The support and enthusiasm from various parties has made us optimistic that we can realize the 10 million trees planting target by the end of 2022,” he remarked.

“We thank the South Sulawesi governor and Unhas rector who have taken the initiative to plant trees in Indonesia’s eastern territory,” he said.

In addition to Unhas, the ministry is also cooperating with three other universities—North Sumatra University, Semarang State University, and Tirtayasa University—for the program.

There is a reason for involving university campuses for making the movement for planting 10 million trees a success, Effendy said.

There are a large number of students at universities, who are expected to have a major impact on making the program a success, he explained.

“A campus has students. We expect that all university students can take part in this program, especially since planting trees is a positive activity for the good of us all,” he said.

Meanwhile, Unhas Rector Jamaluddin informed that he will ask university students, especially freshmen, to support the movement by planting at least one tree.

The university will also coordinate with the campus forum to make the program initiated by the minister a success.

“For this 10 million trees planting movement, we have received a total of 2,500 tree seeds. We will plant these trees at several locations, whether they are in Tamalanrea Campus, Unhas Gowa Campus, to Unhas education forest,” he said.

The GNRM program aims to change the mindset and behavior of Indonesians by referring to the values of integrity, mutual assistance, and work ethic based on the Pancasila ideology.

The program is expected to support efforts to make Indonesia a developed, modern, prosperous, and civilized nation.

HBS satellite commercial operation will be on schedule: Plate

Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate, has said that he is optimistic the commercial operation of Indonesia’s hot backup satellite (HBS) will commence according to schedule.

The minister earlier met with the executives of aerospace companies Boeing, SpaceX, and Hughes Network Systems (HNS) in Los Angeles, the United States, on Monday (July 25, 2022) local time.

Indonesia’s HBS satellite, which will have a capacity of 160 gigabits per second (Gbps), is being developed through cooperation between the ministry and private enterprises, according to a press statement issued on Tuesday.

Of the total 160 gigabits, at least 80 Gbps would be used by the government, while 70 Gbps will be released for domestic private use, and the remaining 10 Gbps will be provided to ASEAN countries. The satellite will be supported by 18 earth stations at 14 locations, and the main gateway will be located in Cikarang, West Java.

During his Los Angeles visit, Plate first met with president of the Boeing Commercial Satellite System, Ryan Reid, and company executives at the Boeing Office in El Segundo.

“Boeing confirmed that the satellite will be launched in early May 2023, and the commercial operation will begin in September 2023,” the minister revealed.

He next met with SpaceX executives, comprising vice president for mission management, Jessica Jensen, and vice president for commercial sales, Tom Ochinero, in Hawthorne, California. The company affirmed the readiness of the Falcon 9 rocket for the HBS launch in May 2023 from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The minister then visited Hughes Network Systems in Los Angeles, where he met the company’s executive vice president and general manager for the international division, Ramesh Ramaswamy, to inspect the readiness of ground station equipment provided by the company.

“HNS is ready and will install 20 thousand terminals for public services at schools, public health centers, village offices, military border posts, and police posts in 2022. The process will be conducted simultaneously to ensure the progress is in line with the satellite launch and operationalization (target),” Plate informed.

He said that the COVID-19 pandemic and the current geopolitical situation are affecting the HBS production and launch with SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket as, for instance, the transportation of the completed HBS satellite from California to Florida can no longer rely on Antonov aircraft due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

“The satellite will be then carried by land transportation, which needs nine to ten days. The booster rocket will be fine because it is already in Florida. The HNS has also mitigated this issue by securing 20 thousand ground segments as the WiFi-satellite signal terminal,” the minister stated.

Despite the existing challenges, he said he is confident that the issues can be properly addressed to ensure the information and technology infrastructure can be phased-in according to schedule to reduce the digital divide among residents.
