Epicor Survey Finds Supply Chain Digital Acceleration is Critical to Fruitful Post-Pandemic Economy

As Tech Early Adopters, Midsize Organizations Predict Growth and Job Creation will Follow as 94% of Respondents Plan Cloud Adoption in 2021

Las Vegas, Nevada, July 12, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — News summary:

  • Cloud prioritization among midsize essential businesses accelerated from 25% consideration in 2020, to 94% adopting cloud this year.
  • 75 percent expect their business to be fully recovered from the impact of COVID-19 by 2022, 61% expect to expand in size and scale over the coming three years and 55% expect to create new jobs.

Epicor Software Corporation, a global provider of industry-specific enterprise software, today presented the findings from their annual Insights Report. The key takeaway is that leaders of midsize businesses across the supply chain are bullish about growth fuelled on investment in cloud-ready technologies.

The study exclusively surveys leaders from midsize1 businesses across the manufacturing, distribution and retail industries on the drivers of business growth over the coming year. The survey finds the nation’s most essential business leaders are not simply gearing up for a ‘bounce back’ year but rather, they are leaning into the accelerating forces of COVID-19 to ‘leap forward.’ The most significant indicator of progress is the radical swing in cloud adoption. In 2020, 25% of respondents declared cloud a strategic priority. In this year’s study, 99% of those surveyed confirmed they plan to move to the cloud, and 94% of them intend to do so this year.

“A key takeaway from this year’s study is the sea change in attitude toward cloud as a critical business accelerant. Leaders have moved from consideration to adoption. While the companies who make, move, and sell what is most essential to economic growth may be all aboard the cloud train, the data suggests their implementation needs vary vastly,” stated Steve Murphy, CEO Epicor Software Corporation, during his keynote address at the annual customer Insights conference. He added: “This is no longer a ‘why move’ conversation but rather a ‘how to move’ to gain advantage – which is exactly why Epicor will continue to prioritize partnership, and we are proud to share that our dedicated migration teams currently support over 75% of implementations, a number we expect to grow.”

Recognizing we have a vital role to play in supporting these essential businesses, Epicor prioritizes initiatives to address the needs and concerns of its customer base including, cybersecurity, implementation-as-a-service, total cost of ownership, and connectivity equity (read the blog post here).

The survey focuses on bringing to the forefront the voices of the essential businesses that keep the world turning and provides opinion from across the supply chain landscape. While the overwhelming message of digital acceleration is encouraging for the nation’s economic recovery and future growth, the data does provide signposts for the IT industry around the support these midsize essential businesses need to thrive. Bekasi district head passes away after testing positive for COVID-19

Karawang, W Java (ANTARA) – Bekasi District Head Eka Supria Atmaja lost the battle to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), breathing his last on Sunday night.

The news was delivered via messages on an instant messenger application, including by District Head of Karawang, Cellica Nurrachadiana, who posted a picture of the district head along with her condolences as a caption on Instagram.

Nurrachadiana stated that Atmaja’s oxygen saturation level had dropped before he passed away.

Atmaja was earlier reported to have been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Tangerang since July 1 after testing positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Head of the Home Affairs Ministry’s Information Center, Benny Irwan, remarked that Atmaja’s duties will be taken over by Regional Secretary, Herman Hanafi, on account of the fact that the deputy district head is currently vacant.

Jakartans advised against hoarding or stockpiling oxygen cylinders

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Jakarta administration has made an earnest request to the city’s residents amid the COVID-19 case surge to desist from hoarding or stockpiling oxygen cylinders at home unless and until there is a dire requirement.

“The demand for medical oxygen has increased exponentially but, please, once again, do not hoard and stockpile oxygen cylinders at home if they are not yet needed,” Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria stressed.

The availability of medical oxygen cylinders is a critical aspect during the COVID-19 pandemic, Patria told journalists on the sidelines of a mass vaccination drive at the Jakarta Islamic Center Grand Mosque on Sunday.

Patria pointed to a high demand for oxygen cylinders for both COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized at hospitals and other health facilities.

Due to the exponentially rising demand for medical oxygen, he admitted to the spiraling lines of people queuing up to refill their oxygen tanks at several filling stations in Jakarta.

In spite of this scenario, Patria urged Jakartans to not harbor concerns about oxygen shortages in the capital city.

To ensure the availability of oxygen supplies, the Jakarta provincial government has set up a so-called “oxygen rescue” command post at the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta.

The command post provides 300 oxygen cylinders, with a capacity of six cubic meters, to meet the demand at hospitals in Jakarta.

Over the past few weeks, Jakarta and several other provinces have been striving to cope with the impacts of a severe second wave of COVID-19 amid growing threats of the more transmissible Delta variant. Data of the ministries of health and industry pointed to a fivefold increase in the demand for medical oxygen cylinders due to the exponential rise in COVID-19 cases.

Amid this alarming situation, the government has requested to convert all supplies of oxygen to fulfill medical requirements as the country battles a major spike in COVID-19 cases.

Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordinating Minister Luhut B. Pandjaitan had stated on July 5 that the availability of medical oxygen cylinders mattered and should be addressed immediately.

The COVID-19 pandemic initially struck the Chinese city of Wuhan in 2019 and subsequently spread across the globe, including to countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Indonesian government announced the country’s first confirmed cases on March 2, 2020.

Since then, the central and regional governments have striven incessantly to flatten the nation’s coronavirus curve by applying healthcare protocols and imposing public activity restrictions.

Government remains resolute about rolling out free vaccination program

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The government has maintained an unwavering stance about rolling out the free COVID-19 vaccination program despite pharmaceutical firms — Kimia Farma and Biofarma — offering paid vaccination services.

Paid vaccination service is an alternative to the government’s free vaccination program to accelerate vaccination and achieve herd immunity, special staff of the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry Arya Sinulingga noted in a written statement released on Sunday.

“The government’s free vaccine program will remain in place. The public can have access to it at all vaccination locations,” he remarked.

Paid vaccination is part of the mutual help vaccination drive. Only companies, with legal status, are allowed to implement the vaccination program for their employees, Sinulingga revealed.

The government has permitted to hold the mutual help vaccination drive to expedite the national vaccination program, the ministry’s special staff noted.

“The objective is to accelerate the vaccination program. This way, the public will have many choices,” he explained. Kimia Farma Corporate Secretary Ganti Winarno made assurance that paid vaccine services would not disrupt the government’s free vaccination program.

Spokesman for the Biofarma COVID-19 vaccine Bambang Heriyanto stated that the mutual help vaccination drive is an alternative to enable public access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

“The mutual help vaccination drive is open to everybody or any party, provided (the requirements of) health facilities are met,” he stated.

Paid vaccination services are available at eight locations of the Kimia Farma clinics: Senen, Pulogadung, and Blok M in Jakarta; Supratman in Bandung; Citarum in Semarang; Sukoharjo in Solo; Sedati in Surabaya; and Batubulan in Bali.

Based on the government’s regulation, paid vaccine is priced at Rp321,660 per dose plus a service fee of Rp117,910. Since each individual receives two doses of the vaccine, the complete paid vaccination comes up to Rp879,140 per individual.

Kimia Farma decides to postpone paid vaccination drive

Jakarta (ANTARA) – State-owned pharmaceutical company PT Kimia Farma has deferred the distribution of the individual Gotong Royong vaccines, as it intends to extend the program’s socialization period.

“We apologize for the delay over the individual Gotong Royong vaccination, meant to start on Monday, July 12, which is being delayed until further notice,” Corporate Secretary of Kimia Farma Ganti Winarno Putro noted in a statement received here, Monday.

Putro explained that overwhelming enthusiasm and inquiries received from the public regarding the program led to the decision to extend the socialization period and to arrange the registration process.

“We would like to thank the public for their understanding and enthusiasm to work together in accelerating the achievement of herd immunity in Indonesia,” he affirmed.

It was earlier reported that PT Kimia Farma Diagnostics, a subsidiary of PT Kimia Farma, was readying 40 thousand doses of paid individual vaccines for distribution in six cities in Java and Bali.

Acting Director of the company, Agus Chandra, confirmed that they will open eight vaccine sales points through the company’s network of clinics, including three in Jakarta and one in Bandung, Solo, Semarang, Surabaya, and Bali respectively.

According to government regulations, per dose of paid vaccine costs Rp321,660, with an additional service price of Rp117,910, thereby bringing the total price of each dose to Rp439,570.

With each person being administered two shots, the price of the complete vaccine package reaches Rp879,140 per individual. Kimia Farma Diagnostics plans to open access for people seeking to buy the imported Sinopharm vaccine starting from Monday (July 12). However, the program was postponed indefinitely.

Govt to distribute 300 thousand packages of COVID-19 therapy drugs

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Joko Widodo has decided to distribute 300 thousand packages of COVID-19 therapy drugs among asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients on Wednesday (July 14), Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Panjaitan stated.

“The president has just decided to launch 300 thousand packages of drugs for patients with no symptoms and patients with no serious symptoms on Wednesday this week,” the minister noted during an online press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

The COVID-19 drug packages will reach 210 thousand patients with active infection, he remarked, adding that personnel of the National Defence Forces (TNI) will be involved in the distribution of COVID-19 drugs.

“TNI personnel along other elements will distribute the drugs. The procedure of distributing the drugs has been formulated, so that (the distribution process) will run (smoothly),” Panjaitan stated.

Panjaitan, concurrently vice chairman of the Committee for COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN), further highlighted that the government will import 40 thousand tons of liquid oxygen as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 case surge.

“We need to exercise caution although our real requirements will not reach that extent. However, if we look at the global uptrend (of COVID-19 cases), including in the United States and Britain, we’d better exercise caution, so we will not be taken by surprise,” he cautioned. The minister confirmed that the government will also import oxygen concentrators for COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms.

The government has set the ceiling price for COVID-19 drugs through Health Minister’s Decree No. HK.01.07/MENKES/4826/2021.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin had stated last Saturday that COVID-19 drugs comprise Favipiravir 200 mg tablet, with the ceiling price set at Rp22,500; Remdesivir 100 mg injection, at Rp510,000 per vial; Oseltamivir 75 mg priced at Rp26,000 per capsule; and Intravenous Immunoglobulin 5 percent 50 ml infusion costing Rp3,262,300.

The other COVID-19 drugs are intravenous Immunoglobulin 10 percent 25 ml infusion costing Rp3,965,000; Intravenous Immunoglobulin 10 percent 50 ml infusion priced at Rp6,174,900; Ivermectin 12 mg tablet at Rp7,500; and Tocilizumab 400 mg/20 ml infusion in vial form available for Rp5,710,600.

Tocilizumab 80 mg/4 ml infusion in vial form costs Rp1,162,200; Azithromycin 500 costing Rp1,700 per tablet; and Tocilizumab 500 mg infusion priced at Rp95,400 are others deployed in the COVID-19 treatment regime.

Mobile clinic to begin COVID vaccinations in North Jakarta July 13

Jakarta (ANTARA) – A mobile clinic operated by the North Jakarta Health Office will begin distributing COVID-19 vaccines in the area from Tuesday (July 13, 2021).

“The aim of the mobile vaccination clinic is to bring the services closer to the people so that they can be reached directly,” said head of the North Jakarta Health Office, Yudi Dimyati, in Jakarta on Monday.

He said the clinic will be operated from vehicles donated by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor. The vehicles are currently at the mayor’s office and will distribute vaccinations to people living in densely populated areas, he added.

Each unit of the mobile clinic will be able to serve 250 people per day, with two units capable of vaccinating up to 500 people, Dimyati said.

The vaccination drive will also involve medical workers from the health office, some of whom will attend to any health inquiries that people may have, he added.

Dimyati further said the North Jakarta government has prepared a scheme to manage the vaccination process as well as the flow of queues, in order to ensure that there will be no crowding.

We are hopeful that those who are yet to receive their shots come to the mobile clinic as the services will be given free of charge, Dimyati added
