Narathiwat: Arrest warrants have been issued for two suspects involved in the bombing and shooting of a father and son from the Border Patrol Police. The suspects fled to the mountains of Mae Ta, and rangers have been deployed to track them down, but they remain at large.
According to Thai News Agency, the attack targeted Pol. Lt. Col. Suwit Chuaythewarit, headmaster of the Border Patrol Police School in Ban Tuengor, and his son, Pol. Sgt. Dom Chuaythewarit, an agricultural teacher at the same school. The violent incident occurred on January 13, 2025, on the Si Sakhon-Luboh Yuering road near Ban Ai Kue Dae in Narathiwat Province. After the attack, the suspects stole firearms and fled the scene.
Evidence collected at the scene led to the discovery of DNA matching two known perpetrators. This prompted officers from Sri Sakhon Police Station to request arrest warrants, which were issued on January 17, 2015. The suspects are identified as Mr. Abdulleh Bula, 40, who has a history of security offenses and is linked to 14 previous arrest warrants. He is known to retreat to the Mae Ta mountain range with his group after such incidents. The second suspect, Mr. Abdullah Samae, 30, has one previous arrest warrant from a bombing incident on January 16, 2024, which targeted a Border Patrol Police officer.
Col. Pasawi Pochadha, commander of the 49th Ranger Regiment Task Force, has orchestrated a pursuit operation, deploying rangers to monitor the movements of Mr. Abdulleh Bula's group in the Mawtae mountain range. Despite law enforcement efforts to search the area and inspect suspicious residences within an 8 km radius, the suspects have not been located.
An unusual report emerged from Sri Sakhon Police Station involving the wreckage of Pol. Lt. Col. Suwit Chuaythewarit's pickup truck, which was parked at the station. Officers and housekeepers reported hearing loud howling from dogs around the wreckage, followed by the sound of the truck's horn, leading them to suspect the presence of Suwit's spirit near the vehicle.
