Abu dhabi: The Foreign Ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt have issued a joint statement condemning Israel's continued illegal settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories. They specifically reject the E1 settlement plan and related activities in East Jerusalem, highlighting violations perpetrated by settlers with the support of Israeli authorities against Palestinians and their property. According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the ministers emphasized that these actions violate international law and United Nations resolutions, posing a significant threat to regional and international peace and security. The E1 settlement plan is seen as a dangerous escalation that undermines the territorial contiguity of the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly between the West Bank and East Jerusalem, threatening the feasibility of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders. The ministers reaffirmed their suppo rt for the two-state solution as the only viable path to achieving lasting peace, in accordance with international law and UN resolutions. They warned that actions undermining this solution could escalate tensions and jeopardize prospects for stability in the region. In response, the ministers advocated for international accountability measures, including sanctions against those responsible for illegal settlement activities and those facilitating settlement expansion and annexation. They called for the cessation of support or funding contributing to these activities, stressing that lack of accountability undermines the prospects for a just and lasting peace. The joint statement urged immediate action to halt the E1 settlement plan and called on the UN Security Council and international bodies to fulfill their responsibilities. This includes taking urgent measures to halt illegal settlement expansion, protect Palestinian rights, and support the establishment of an independent state in accordance with interna tional law and UN resolutions.
