Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has reported that the North, Northeast, and Central regions of Thailand are set to experience cool to cold weather. The East and upper South, including Bangkok and its vicinity, will witness cool conditions in the morning, while the lower South will continue to experience thunderstorms. Waves in the lower Gulf of Thailand are expected to reach heights of 2-3 meters, prompting small boats to remain ashore.
According to Thai News Agency, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates that a high-pressure area or cold air mass will persist over the upper part of Thailand and the South China Sea. This will lead to cool to cold weather in the North, Northeast, and Central regions. The East and upper South, along with Bangkok and its vicinity, will experience cool mornings. Mountaintops and hilltops are anticipated to have cold to very cold weather, with some areas likely to encounter frost. Residents are advised to take health precautions against the colder temperatures and be vigilant about potential fire hazards due to dry conditions.
The northeast monsoon, currently affecting the lower Gulf of Thailand and the lower South, remains strong, resulting in thunderstorms in the lower South. The lower Gulf is experiencing strong waves reaching 2-3 meters, with even higher waves during thunderstorms. The upper Gulf of Thailand has waves approximately 2 meters high, with higher waves during thunderstorms. Residents in the eastern South should remain cautious of coastal wave dangers, while sailors are advised to navigate carefully and avoid thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the lower Gulf of Thailand are advised to refrain from sailing until January 18, 2025.
During this period, weather conditions are affecting dust accumulation, with air circulation at a moderate level. The wind covering the upper part of Thailand has weakened in some areas, leading to an increase in dust concentrations.
