Over 130 legendary boats gather at the Monaco Classic Week-La Belle Classe

Over 130 legendary boats gather at the Monaco Classic Week-La Belle Classe

Over 130 legendary boats gather at the Monaco Classic Week-La Belle Classe

MONACO, Sept. 13, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Over 130 boats will gather for the16th Monaco Classic Week-La Belle Classe organised by the Yacht Club de Monaco (13-16 September). The boats, including some forty classic sailing yachts, a dozen period motor yachts, around sixty vintage motorboats and a 20-strong fleet of Dinghy 12’ class, will make their way into Port Hercule today to moor in the YCM Marina.

Launched in 1994, this biennial meeting showcases the boats of yesteryear still sailing. To kick things off, Tuiga, the flagship of the Yacht Club de Monaco, will join the other two 15M IR yachts, The Lady Anne and Mariska, for an inaugural regatta, while the Jury, chaired by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, will begin its inspection for the ‘La Belle Classe Restoration’ Prize.

The world’s most beautiful sailing boats are coming to the meeting, designed by the early America’s Cup architects like Nathanael G. Herreshoff to whom we owe several legends from the American classic scene like Atlantic(56.43m) and Elena of London(41.60m). Alongside will be the superb Charles Nicholson masterpiece, the three-mast schooner Creole(58.22m), showing off her elegant lines. On display there’ll also be the O’Remington(23.20m). Launched 1946 under the name Maria del Mar, the schooner was owned by Lord Remington, a wealthy American heir. Illustrious names like Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti and Marcello Mastroianni went on board and four Palmes d’or winners of the Cannes Film Festival stayed on her who would see the boat as a lucky charm for Italian cinema. At Maria Callas’s request, Lord Remington then headed for Athens where he met the famous Greek shipowner, Aristotle Onassis. During her time in Italy, the Diva rehearsed on board, an event engraved in the collective Italian memory reflected in the boat’s nickname ‘La Divina’. Eyes on the Naema(40.59m). This faithful replica of Alfred Mylne’s Panda left the Camper & Nicholson yard in 1938. Offered as a gift to King Bao Da of Anam (Vietnam) by the French government the boat found refuge in Toulon after the French withdrew from Indochina in 1954.

In the wake of the first motorboat meetings in 1904, some sixty motorboats will be brought together, including three dating from the early 20thcentury. A dozen vintage motor yachts will be cruising in the bay of Monaco, beauties like Thelasbuilt 1936 by De Vries Lentsch from the architect Norman Hart’s drawings. Alongside them will be an exceptional fleet of around thirty Rivas, mahogany wooden runabouts of the 1950s.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Prince Rainier III, who founded Yacht Club de Monaco in 1953, an exclusive exhibition entitled ‘The Prince and the Sea’ during Monaco Classic Week shines a light on some of the beautiful boats owned by a man who loved the sea and boats.

  • Free Public CPE/CPD courses from FloQademy, FloQast’s learning portal, which for the first time are available at no cost to everyone – whether or not they’re a FloQast customer. • Strengthening Compliance Management, inspired by rapid user adoption and feedback, for even greater audit readiness and agility through central management and integration of compliance into business processes.

“Today’s accountants face a variety of challenges requiring the need for intelligent, reliable resources, and the introduction of Variance Analysis, FloQademy CPE/CPD, and the latest updates to FloQast Compliance Management address a variety of needs inspired directly by feedback from our customers,” said Mike Whitmire, co-founder and CEO at FloQast, CPA. “Whether it’s further automating time-consuming tasks, centrally managing and integrating compliance into business processes, or helping accountants have a little fun with continuing professional education requirements, FloQast remains dedicated to empowering accountants to work better together and grow their strategic role within the organization.”

The solutions were announced at TakeControl, FloQast’s annual user conference, taking place from September 13-14, 2023. Today’s announcements come as FloQast also unveiled and detailed its vision for the future of generative AI and accounting during the conference. By using generative AI, routine accounting tasks such as data entry, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation can be further automated.

FloQast Variance Analysis

FloQast Variance Analysis simplifies Flux and Budget Variance Analysis during the Financial Close, saving Accountants time, improving reporting accuracy, centralizing data, and better visibility and accountability to better manage the variance analysis process. Teams can focus on driving data-driven explanations of business activities and enhancing organizational agility. Key features include:

  • Automated Reports and Scoping: FloQast Variance Analysis automatically generates reports by integrating directly with FloQast Close and major ERP systems. You can set materiality thresholds for automated scoping, ensuring your reports are ready when you need them.
  • Enhanced Variance Workflow Management: See progress of variance reports with purpose-built dashboards. Set up automated notification alerts for when reports are ready for review, adding/responding to review comments, and significant changes to account balances. These notifications integrate seamlessly with Slack, Teams, and email.
  • Deeper Insights with Transaction Level Details: FloQast Variance Analysis gathers transaction details by vendor or department, centralizing the analysis workflow. This feature eliminates the need to refer back to your ERP, manually set parameters, download reports or perform additional formatting to collect data. In addition, reviewers can easily access the same underlying data preparers used to draft explanations.
  • Timely Variance Analysis: This new capability offers a more efficient approach to variance analysis. Teams can finalize numbers in specific account areas and perform proactive variance analysis each period rather than reactive analysis during the audit.

FloQademy CPE/CPD

FloQademy CPE/CPD is changing the stigma that continuing professional development content has to be dry and boring. • Narrative / RCM Two-Way Sync: Choose to work from either process narratives or the FloQast Risk Control Matrix (RCM) giving users flexibility to work where they want. FloQast Compliance Management automatically synchronizes changes for audit evidence that is always current and accurate.

“When I found out FloQast was working on a module that could help us with our controls and SOX compliance — within FloQast — I was thrilled,” said Brandon Peters, Director of SOX Compliance & Head of Internal Audit, a.k.a. “Now, we’re able to centralize that work within the tool for one source of truth and more accountability.”

At approximately 10,000 bases, this srRNA is significantly larger than a conventional linear mRNA and has been historically difficult to manufacture at the scales required for clinical development. Curia’s analytical method development and qualification of the assays were also critical to the release of this srRNA molecule.

“Curia is proud to be a pioneer in manufacturing this new class of srRNA technology by delivering RBI-4000 srRNA drug substance to our partner Replicate in support of their Phase 1 clinical trial,” said Christopher Conway, President, Research & Development, Curia. “We are dedicated to providing advantaged solutions from development to cGMP manufacture for our customers in the mRNA field.”

This new class of srRNA vaccine offers a number of potential improvements to existing mRNA vaccines, including lower dosage requirements and improved tolerability. The advancement also opens the door for further RNA innovation for use in vaccines and therapeutics with fewer constraints on molecule size.

“Our collaboration with Curia helped us manufacture a new class of self-replicating RNAs which have the potential to deliver improved bioactivity, tolerability and efficacy profiles as compared to other RNA technologies,” said Nathaniel Wang, Ph.D., founder and CEO of Replicate. “Curia scaled up a process for longer RNAs that enabled large-scale production at yields, purity and potency to support Replicate’s Phase 1 clinical trial.”

Curia is committed to being a partner of choice from discovery and development through manufacture and commercialization, providing a full suite of services to support small and large molecule, drug substance, drug product aseptic fill-finish and laboratory testing at every phase of the drug development life cycle.
