JIS capable of hosting World Cup final: Jakarta Deputy Governor

The Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) was worthy of hosting world football matches, including the World Cup final, Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria stated.

“The Jakarta International Stadium is capable of hosting the Champions League final and even the World Cup final,” Patria noted through his Instagram account @arizapatria on Friday.

The deputy governor later remarked that JIS was equipped with supporting facilities, such as a seating capacity of 82 thousand and a retractable roof.

In fact, several football stadiums, such as the Anfield stadium and Old Trafford stadium, did not have a retractable roof, he pointed out.

During his Eid holiday in England, Patria had visited several European football stadiums, including Anfield Stadium, the home for Liverpool FC, with 54,074 seats, and Manchester United’s stadium, Old Trafford, with a seating capacity of 76 thousand.

“We should be proud that JIS has a capacity of 82 thousand seats,” Patria noted.

The deputy governor also stated that football had become an industry in England. He remarked that the private sector’s involvement in sponsoring the football club in England should be taken into consideration to be explored in Indonesia’s football culture.

“We hope that the Jakarta Football Club, Persija, and other Indonesian clubs would be able to grow just like Liverpool, Manchester United, AC Milan, Bayer Munich, and others,” he stated.

He expressed optimism that Indonesian football players would be able to enter the international market with noteworthy fees. He believes that the potential is quite high since members of Indonesia’s young generation were able to enter the world’s best universities, such as Oxford, Stanford, Harvard, MIT, and Cambridge.

Patria remarked that the salaries of players, such as Mohamed Salah, had reached Rp3.7 billion per week and Cristiano Ronaldo, Rp7.1 billion per week.

“If Indonesian children are able to enter the best universities in the world, Indonesian children must also be able to play in clubs, such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea,” he concluded.

“Most workers will return to their office on Monday, and school pupils have also started their school at the same time,” the senior manager noted.

Community should support MSMEs run by disabled people: Minister

State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir appealed to the general public to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) run by people with disabilities by purchasing their products.

“The SOEs for Indonesia foundation has helped. Now, it is time for the community to take part. I appeal to the community to support disabled MSME players by buying their products,” he noted in a written statement here on Friday.

Buying the products can encourage disabled MSME players to continue to develop their products, he remarked.

Efforts to revive economic growth in Indonesia must involve all sectors, especially the MSME sector. Hence, the MSME sector, accounting for 97 percent of the national economic power, should continue to develop.

To this end, the “SOEs for Indonesia” foundation provided assistance in the form of production equipment for MSMEs run by people with disabilities in East Java.

The distribution of assistance, which took place at the Harmoni Building, Pasuruan, East Java, was witnessed by the SOEs minister, Mayor of Pasuruan Saifullah Yusuf, and Pasuruan District Head H. Irsyad Yusuf.

Thohir lauded the support given by the SOEs for Indonesia foundation for disabled MSME players in jointly partaking in the national economic growth.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of the SOEs for Indonesia foundation, Syafuan, affirmed that disabled MSME players must be given the same rights and opportunities.

This especially becomes important after the current COVID-19 pandemic, as all MSME actors are affected by a decline in the people’s purchasing power.

“We hope that assistance in the form of production equipment needed to improve quality and productivity aspects to increase product competitiveness in the market would restore their eagerness to rise,” Syafuan remarked.

On that occasion, the foundation also provided scholarship assistance and supporting facilities to a member of the Nahdlatul Ulama Women Students’ Association (IPPNU), Sandiani Sri Wahyuni.

MPR supports cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea

People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Bambang Soesatyo encouraged Indonesia’s government to increase bilateral cooperation with South Korea for Indonesia’s new national capital city (IKN) construction in East Kalimantan and the Indonesian Presidency Program in G20.

Soesatyo explained that Indonesia’s trade with South Korea in 2021 was valued at US$18.47 billion, while Indonesia’s exports to South Korea totaled US$8.98 billion, while Indonesia’s imports from South Korea reached US$9.42 billion.

“It is hoped that in 2022, the value of trade between Indonesia and South Korea would continue to increase. Indonesia has provided easy investment licensing through Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation,” Soesatyo noted in a statement here on Friday.

The statement was delivered after meeting Indonesian Ambassador to South Korea Gandi Sulistiyanto and the embassy staff at the Indonesian Ambassador’s Residence in Seoul, South Korea, Friday.

Soesatyo also encouraged cooperation in the multi-industry sector, especially the development of electric cars in Indonesia.

He explained that the cooperation that could be implemented encompassed joint research in the market of micro electric vehicles, the production of electric vehicle batteries in Indonesia, and the provision of infrastructure for charging stations.

“Currently, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) has been appointed by the government to become an electric car manufacturer in Indonesia. It is marked by the production of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric car in Cikarang, West Java,” he remarked.

Soesatyo said the Hyundai factory was directed to form the largest upstream to downstream electric car industry ecosystem in Southeast Asia.

He encouraged the factory of Hyundai Indonesia to immediately produce electric vehicle batteries in Indonesia.

He emphasized that other important collaborations that should be improved were related to digital transformation and digital finance.

“In this field, South Korea has advantages and experiences in accelerating its application to the manufacturing industry, such as 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and open data,” he stated.

He noted that this aligned with the three priorities of the Indonesian presidency in the G20: health architecture, energy transition, and digital transformation.

Soesatyo expects the South Korean government to provide full support to the G20 agenda by building strong partnerships in the three priority programs of the Indonesian presidency.

In addition, the Panjang Port (Lampung)-Ciwandan Port (Banten) route has been prepared as an alternative crossing, head of the Lampung Regional Police, Inspector General Hendro Sugiatno, informed here on Friday.

Earlier, to anticipate a surge in the returning Eid al-Fitr traffic at the Sunda Strait crossing, the Transportation Ministry had prepared the two alternative crossing lanes.

The first one, the 26-mile Bakauheni BBJ Port-Bojonegara BBJ Port stretch, will take four hours to cover.
