North Kayong’s seven tourism sites to visit during Eid al-Fitr

Seven tourism destinations in North Kayong District, West Kalimantan Province, are worth visiting along with family, friends, and relatives during the 2022 Eid al-Fitr holiday period.

One of the destinations is the renowned Datok Island Beach in Sukadana Sub-district that offers scenic views of the sea and hills. Visitors can rent a canoe, buy various snacks, and spend time in the playground.

Siti Jubaidah, a visitor at the beach, assessed that the destination has been popular among people during the 2022 Eid al-Fitr holidays since it is comfortable and clean.

“The visitors do not only come from Sukadana Sub-district, North Kayong District, but also Ketapang District. The beach is perfect to be visited during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday,” she stated at Sukadana Sub-district, on Tuesday.

The other attraction is the Pasir Mayang Beach that is famous for its beautiful white sandy beach.

Furthermore, visitors can explore the mangrove forest in Sukadana Sub-district where they can walk on a wooden bridge and enjoy the view of the shady mangrove trees.

Tourists can also visit the largest mosque in the district, Great Mosque of Osman Al-Khair, which is built floating at sea and surrounded by beautiful mountainous views, thereby making the mosque a popular religious tourism destination.

In addition, there is the Pauh Public Bathing, with a clear waterfall, located at the top of the mountain.

“Usually, after swimming at the Datok Island Beach with my children and family, I invite them to bathe in the Pauh Public Bathing since the water is very clear and the short distance between the two sites,” Jubaidah stated.

Right next to the public bathing is Pauh Hill that has a charming natural beauty. Other amenities are a comfortable swimming pool, restaurants, and lodgings for the visitors to stay.

Furthermore, Mount Sembilan located in Sembilan Mount Village offers scenic places for capturing pictures with rice fields in the backdrop.

Tangerang readies 1,401 cleaning personnel during Eid holiday

The Environment and Cleanliness Office of Tangerang District, Banten Province, has readied 1,401 cleaning personnel that are tasked with ensuring cleanliness in the region throughout the 2022 Eid al-Fitr holiday period.

Head of the Environment and Cleanliness Office of Tangerang District Achmad Taufik stated here on Tuesday that in order to ensure the region’s cleanliness before and after the Eid celebration, the office had readied officers and garbage trucks to anticipate the accretion of waste during the Eid holiday.

“We have readied 1,401 cleaning personnel that are deployed in all areas of Tangerang District starting from before to after Eid al-Fitr. Apart from that, 213 garbage trucks are also deployed,” he remarked.

He noted that during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, the district’s landfill in Jatiwaringin is operating round the clock while adding that at least 12 personnel are tasked with the landfill operations.

Moreover, starting from D+2 of Eid, all cleaning officers will start to be on duty as usual.

He noted that the volume of waste in the region after the celebration of Eid is projected to increase by 20 to 30 percent.

“Based on the (record of the) previous years, there is an increase in waste during this year’s Eid,” Taufik remarked.

For the 2022 Eid al-Fitr, the Indonesian government decided that the collective leave days for the Eid al-Fitr period to be on April 29 and on May 4-6, 2022.

On account of the improved situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, the government has also lifted several restrictions for the 2022 Eid al-Fitr, one of which was the government’s decision to allow people to travel to their hometowns to celebrate the Muslim holiday.

SAR Agency seeks Ternate man lost during Eid exodus trip

The Ternate Search and Rescue Agency is conducting a search for a man from Kasiruta Island, South Halmahera District, North Maluku, who reportedly went missing during the 2022 Eid exodus to his hometown.

After receiving a report on that day, the agency immediately dispatched personnel of the Bacan Island Search and Rescue Post to look for a victim named Asri Iskandar Alam, 30, Head of the Ternate Search and Rescue Agency Muhammad Arafah stated on Tuesday.

The victim, a resident of Kasiruta Island, South Halmahera District, reportedly went missing when he left a longboat unattended. He was supposed to use a canoe to continue his trip to Jeret Village.

On Sunday, May 1, 2022, at around 10 p.m. local time, the victim was maneuvering his longboat through a river route in the middle of his trip to his hometown in Jeret Village.

However, the victim did not arrive at his destination in Jeret Village, South Sulawesi, until then, though the residents found the victim’s longboat adrift in the waters around the village.

Thereafter, on Wednesday, May 3, 2022, at 12:15 local time, the Bacan Island Search and Rescue Post received the report and immediately expedited search and rescue efforts.

The team used the Rescue Boat 309 to reach the location where the victim was suspected to have gone missing, 17.9 Nm from the Kupal Bacan Harbor.

A family member, Sabtu Muale, confirmed that the victim intended to visit Jeret Village, East Kasiruta District, to celebrate Eid with the family for which he had departed using a katinting boat from Kasiruta Dalam Village.

However, until Monday, May 2, the victim failed to show up at Jerek Village, so the family and local people began looking for him.

“We are looking for the victim because from Sunday evening to Monday morning, the victims (failed to show up), so we searched and we found the victim’s boat adrift around the waters of Jeret Village, but the victim was not there, and the boat was in a damaged condition at the front,” he revealed.

He said that until then, the family and local residents were still searching for the victim around Jerek Village’s waters and the Kali Kali area of Kasiruta Dalam Village.
