Khon Kaen: "Warawut" has clarified his comments regarding the upcoming no-confidence debate, emphasizing that if Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra survives the vote, the Cabinet will also remain intact.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, the Minister of Social Development and Human Security and leader of the Chartthaipattana Party, addressed criticisms of his previous statements. As a representative of a coalition party ahead of the confidence vote in the House of Representatives, he apologized for any misunderstandings his words may have caused.
Mr. Varawut explained that the context of his remarks was the no-confidence debate, which focuses solely on the Prime Minister. He noted that if the Prime Minister fails to gain the confidence of the House, both the government and its leadership, referred to as the "state ship," would be dismissed. This scenario would render the government unable to continue its duties. He used the analogy of a ship's captain to illustrate that if the Prime Minister, as the leader, remains in position, the government and Cabinet can continue to function.
He further clarified that any misinterpretation of his comments should be viewed in the context of the debate concerning the Prime Minister. Mr. Varawut expressed his regret for any confusion and reiterated his focus on the importance of the Prime Minister's role in maintaining government stability.
