Thai Progressive Party Leader Surprised by MP’s Confidence Vote for Prime Minister

Bangkok: "Thai Kaona" expressed his surprise upon learning of "Chaiyamphuan's" vote of confidence in "Paethongtarn," who has claimed involvement in assisting victims of a call center gang. He stated his intention to wait for further details following reports of potential collaboration with "Kla Tham" to address a tourist rape case.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Watcharapol Busamongkol, leader of the Thai Progressive Party, disclosed that Mr. Chai-am-Phan Manphienchit, an MP from Bangkok representing the Thai Progressive Party, voted in favor of the Prime Minister's confidence. Mr. Watcharapol mentioned that he was informed of this decision only after Mr. Chai-am-Phan explained that the government had facilitated assistance for victims of a call center gang in Poipet, which some interpreted as a favorable action. Mr. Chai-am-Phan's reasoning was based on this facilitation, although Mr. Watcharapol emphasized that he was not yet aware of the full truth behind the claim. He noted that the party grants MPs the discretion to act based on reason and straightforwardness, particularly when it aligns with the interests of the public and the nation. Mr. Watcharapol highlighted that decisions in parliament should prioritize correctness and national interest, and whether one stands as opposition or government remains at the MP's discretion. Ho wever, he expressed concern that Mr. Chai-am-Phan did not inform the party of his vote beforehand, choosing to disclose it only after the vote had been cast.

In response to inquiries about Mr. Chaiyamwan reportedly voting against the opposition party to align with Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, the chairman of the Kla Tham Party, to assist in a Taiwanese tourist's rape case and potentially join Kla Tham Party, Mr. Watcharapol noted that he had heard rumors but lacked full clarity on the matter. He emphasized that future developments remain uncertain and that they must await concrete facts to understand the situation fully.
