Teng Uncertain About Electronic Fence Proposal on Thai-Cambodian Border

Bangkok: "Teng" remains unsure whether he agrees with the construction of an electronic fence along the Thai-Cambodian border, stating that it depends on the context of each area. He insists he does not oppose the purchase of necessary and appropriate weapons and equipment for national defense.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Natthaphong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party and leader of the opposition, addressed the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters' proposal to implement an "electronic fence" using closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems in conjunction with temporary fences in sensitive areas to enhance border security between Thailand and Cambodia. He stated that the details of each area's appropriate and inappropriate fences and equipment would depend on the context of each area. He stated that he could not yet give an answer as to whether he agreed or disagreed with the fence construction. However, he confirmed that the People's Party does not oppose the purchase of necessary and appropriate weapons and equipment for national defense and is ready to support appropriate weapons and equipment for military operations. He added that any issues deemed inappropriate, such as the recent debate on scuba diving, are fully supported in expressing their opposition.
