According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chuwit Sirivejkul, Director of the TAT East Asia Region, and Mr. Yang Xiaolong, Counselor for Affairs and Culture, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Thailand, jointly opened the 2025 Amazing Thailand Public Square Dance Competition. This competition, specifically designed for the Active Senior tourist group from Kunming, People's Republic of China, was held at Aksara Theatre, King Power, Rangnam Road.
Mr. Chuwit stated that the initiative aims to expand the Chinese tourist market by targeting the active senior segment, recognized for their spending potential. Square dancing, a popular activity in China, is being leveraged by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) as a cultural medium. The TAT is partnering with Chinese tour companies to offer Thai travel packages on prominent routes: Kunming-Bangkok-Pattaya and Jinan-Bangkok-Pattaya. Participants in these packages will enjoy a 7-day, 6-night stay in Thailand and have the opportunity to participate in the competition.
The event featured 12 teams of Chinese tourists, with a total of no less than 300 participants. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) anticipates generating over 30 million baht in tourism revenue from this initiative.
