Summer Storm Causes Substantial Damage in Trat, Toppling Durian Trees

Trat: A summer storm hit Trat City. In just 10 minutes, roofs of houses flew off, durian trees were broken and fruits fell everywhere, causing at least 50,000 baht in damage.

According to Thai News Agency, this is the damage to houses and durian trees in Ban Khao Mak, Tambon Huai Raeng, Amphoe Mueang, Trat Province after the summer storm last night. In the morning, we went to inspect the damage and found that in Soi Khao Mak, houses were blown down by the storm. Some houses were crushed by fallen trees. Property inside the houses, including cars and motorcycles parked there, was damaged. In some houses, villagers had to temporarily stay at relatives' houses because they could not stay there.

While many durian trees were blown down by the storm, more than 100 durians that were 2-3 months old fell, with damages worth at least 50,000 baht. More than 100 rubber trees were blown down, and there were about 20 other fruit trees. Last night, there was heavy rain, and the storm blew in for only 10 minutes. Durian trees were toppled down and several roofs were blown off.
