Nong Bua Lamphu: The NACC Region 4 has apprehended a former deputy mayor of Dan Chang Subdistrict Administrative Organization at a red light after his involvement with a former surveyor in the illicit issuance of Sor Por Kor 4-01.
According to Thai News Agency, officials from the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission Region 4, in collaboration with Nong Bua Lamphu police, executed the arrest of the former deputy mayor, who was under an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases Region 4. The former deputy mayor was implicated as an accomplice to an official tasked with the management of state property. His actions, in violation of Section 151 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Section 86, led to damages to the state or the rightful property owner.
The case dates back to 2008, involving the former deputy mayor and a former surveyor from the Land Reform Office in Nong Bua Lamphu Province. They allegedly conducted a land survey to create a map for Sor Por Kor 4-01 in a forested area that was neither owned nor used by them, resulting in the improper issuance of the document.
Following these activities, corruption investigation officers inspected the suspect's residence in Nong Bua Lamphu Province. It was discovered that he was operating as a general trader across multiple provinces, including Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, and Loei. The suspect was using a small pickup truck with a Sakon Nakhon license plate. Authorities tracked him down at the Na Di Intersection, Mueang Udon Thani District, and apprehended him at a red light intersection in Mueang Nong Bua Lamphu District. The arrest required careful tactics due to concerns about potential illegal items in his possession.
Upon arrest, the officer identified himself and presented the arrest warrant. The accused admitted to being the individual named in the warrant and noted he had not been previously apprehended. He was informed of his rights and taken to Nong Bua Lamphu City Police Station for formal charges and detention procedures, in compliance with the Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act 2022. Subsequently, he was transferred to the prosecutor at the Office of the Attorney General, Region 4, to face prosecution at the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases, Region 4.
Additionally, the accused, Mr. Wisanupong, is wanted under two other arrest warrants issued by the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions. These warrants, dated July 12, 2023, pertain to his failure to submit a list of assets and liabilities to the NACC.
