Soldiers Clash with Drug Caravan, Four Suspects Killed

Chiang Mai: Soldiers clashed with a drug caravan on the Ban Khop Dong road in Fang District, Chiang Mai Province. Four suspects were killed and 400,000 methamphetamine pills were seized.

According to Thai News Agency, soldiers from the Chaiyanuphap Task Force inspected a clash at the Ban Khop Dong route on the Thai-Myanmar border in Fang District, Chiang Mai Province, after patrolling and finding a drug-smuggling caravan consisting of 6-8 men carrying backpacks entering through a natural path early this morning. They signaled for them to stop, but the group opened fire, prompting the soldiers to return fire. This resulted in a clash lasting about 10 minutes before the group of criminals retreated.

From the inspection of the area, the bodies of four members of the group were found, and 400,000 methamphetamine pills were seized. The Pha Muang task force brought relevant officials to inspect the clash area in detail again this afternoon.
