Army Commander Inspects Readiness Along Thai-Cambodian Border Ahead of Key Meeting

Chong Bok: The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, General Pana Klaewplodthuk, accompanied by the Commander of Army Region 2, Lieutenant General Boonsin Phadklang, conducted an inspection of the Thai-Cambodian border at Chong Bok in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, to assess military readiness and boost the morale of personnel stationed there.

According to Thai News Agency, the high-ranking officials arrived in the area via helicopter, making a stop at the Dom Pradit Subdistrict Administrative Organization. They also visited Ban Paet Um School to commend villagers and volunteer military cadets for their efforts in building sandbags and supporting the local community with essential supplies.

During a brief press interaction, General Pana discussed the upcoming Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) meeting, emphasizing that national mechanisms should operate as usual and that the military remains committed to fulfilling its duties.

The visit also included a stop at the residence of Mr. Ek Chan Sing, a 76-year-old former ranger who previously served in the Vietnam War and the Chong Bok incident. Despite being bedridden due to health issues, Mr. Chan Sing expressed gratitude towards the army officials for their visit and extended his support to the soldiers on duty at the border.

The delegation then proceeded to lay a wreath at the memorial of Major Anupong Boonprateep at the Anupong base and received a situational briefing at the Morakot base. On the return journey, Lieutenant General Boonsin Phadklang remarked that he anticipates the outcomes of the JBC meeting and confirmed there were no new directives for the time being.

Earlier in the day, both commanders visited Kantharalak District in Sisaket Province. They inspected the Phalan Yao base, reviewed bunker readiness at Phum Sorol Witthaya School, and distributed sports equipment to students in the region.
