School Bus Has a Flat Tire and Crashes into an Electric Pole, Injuring 22 People

Uttaradit: This morning, the Muang Police Station in Uttaradit Province received a report of a school van crashing into an electric pole on the Uttaradit-Sila-At-Sirikit Dam Road in Tambon Ngio Ngam. At the scene, a Toyota van was found crushed into an electric pole, with the front of the van badly damaged. There were 21 injured students from almost every grade sitting and crying in pain, waiting for help on the side of the road. The driver, a young woman in a PE uniform, was stuck in the driver's seat. Rescue volunteers and good Samaritans provided assistance and took the injured to the hospital.

According to Thai News Agency, initial reports indicate that the van was taking students from Wang Din Subdistrict to various schools in Uttaradit Municipality. When it reached the scene of the accident, the front right tire burst with a loud bang. The driver was shocked and could not control the vehicle, causing it to lose control and hit an electric pole on a rural highway, breaking it and coming loose. The vehicle then hit a second electric pole belonging to the Provincial Electricity Authority, causing a loud bang. Students inside the vehicle screamed loudly. Nearby villagers helped the students while waiting for rescue workers and police.
