Bangkok: A tragic accident occurred when a Bangkok-Chiang Mai tour bus swerved, lost control, and crashed into a large tree, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to more than 30 passengers. The incident is currently under investigation to determine the cause of the mishap.
According to Thai News Agency, the accident took place on Phahonyothin Road in the Wang Chao District of Tak Province at approximately 1 a.m. The Wang Chao Police Station, along with rescue workers, responded promptly to the report of the bus accident, mobilizing ambulances and utilizing cutting and prying equipment to assist the injured.
At the scene, the bus, which was en route from Chiang Mai to Bangkok and carrying both local and foreign passengers, was found severely damaged after falling into the median strip and crashing into a large tree. Among the casualties was Ms. Erawan, 41, a bus employee who perished at the scene in the front passenger seat. Rescue workers had to employ specialized equipment to extricate her body. The driver, Mr. Suwat, 65, was trapped in the wreckage for over 20 minutes. Despite being rescued and receiving CPR, he succumbed to his injuries at Wang Chao Hospital.
Initial eyewitness accounts suggest the bus was traveling at high speed through Tak town before it swerved and collided with the tree. Authorities are set to conduct a detailed investigation to ascertain the precise cause of the accident.
