Scammers Drive Away with Pickup Truck in Khon Kaen Province

Bangkok: Another misery for a 39-year-old man who could not pay for his car installments, decided to sell the down payment via social media, but was attacked by a group of scammers who disguised themselves as customers, arranged to meet to see the car, and then drove away right before his eyes.

According to Thai News Agency, a surveillance camera inside a gas station on Mittraphap Road in Ban Phai District, Khon Kaen Province, captured footage of a group of 5-6 men surrounding a bronze four-door Vigo pickup truck with a Nakhon Pathom license plate and talking for a few minutes. Then, a white Isuzu Mu-X with no license plate quickly backed out of its parking spot before driving away from the gas station. The owner of the four-door Vigo pickup truck tried to pull the door open and chase after it, but the white Isuzu Mu-X with no license plate quickly drove away. The incident occurred at 5:30 p.m. on April 6, 2015.

After the incident, Mr. Phonchai, 39 years old, from Nakhon Pathom, went to file a police report at Ban Phai Police Station. He was still in shock. The police checked inside the gas station and reviewed nearby CCTV cameras to find clues about the perpetrator.

Mr. Ponchai said that he drove a bronze 4-door Vigo pickup truck from Nakhon Pathom Province to sell the car as a down payment on a Facebook page called 'Buy and sell legal racing cars only' because he could not pay the installments. He contacted the page to sell the car down payment and made an appointment to meet at a gas station in Ban Phai District, Khon Kaen Province. He drove from Nakhon Pathom Province and arrived at the meeting place at 2:30 p.m. Then at 5:10 p.m., a white Isuzu Mu-X without a license plate parked next to his car. Then, a man claiming to be a broker got out to talk to him, pretended to inspect the condition of the car, and got in the car. Another person asked him where the car keys were. He replied, 'What keys, sir? I haven't agreed on a price with you yet.' Then, the car keys were snatched from his hand. While he tried to resist, he saw the gun handle, so he was shocked and gave him the car keys. Then, the gang of criminals quickly drove away in the bronze 4-door Vigo pickup truck wi th Nakhon Pathom license plates.

He himself tried to jump into the gang's car but was pushed out. He asked the police to urgently track down the gang and bring them to justice because he is currently in great trouble.
