Bangkok: The Prime Minister continues his work, meeting the Cabinet today before traveling to Phuket tomorrow morning to monitor tourism policies and stimulate the economy in all dimensions, while also pushing for soft power to create sustainability for southern tourism.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, the government spokesman, revealed that this morning at 10.00 a.m., the Prime Minister chaired the 12th Cabinet meeting of 2025. Then, on Friday, March 28, 2025, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, gave a special lecture at the Thailand Sustainable Tourism Conference 2025 seminar at the Phuket Rajabhat University Conference Center, Mueang District, Phuket Province. The lecture focused on 'Soft Power, a Mechanism for Creating Sustainability for Thai Tourism', emphasizing the use of Thai culture and local identity as tools for driving sustainable tourism. The conference is a precursor to the Global Sustainable Tourism Conference (GSTC) 2026, for which Phuket will receive the hosting flag in Fiji.

Mr. Jirayu continued that the main objective of TSTC 2025 is to raise awareness about sustainable tourism development approaches, considering the balance between the economy, society, and the environment. The conference aims to encourage tourism entrepreneurs to adopt practices that mitigate the negative impacts of tourism while enhancing economic value for local communities. It also seeks to strengthen the Thai tourism sector by offering guidelines for entrepreneurs to adapt, developing sustainable business management models, and fostering cooperation between public and private sectors to tackle market changes, economic volatility, and environmental challenges.

After the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold a meeting to discuss tourism promotion strategies with relevant agencies at Phuket Provincial Hall, Mueang District, Phuket Province. This discussion is expected to result in proactive measures for developing Thailand's tourism industry towards sustainable long-term growth.
