Bangkok: The Ministry of Agriculture, through the Department of Agricultural Extension, has launched an online registration system for agricultural service providers to develop a 'Community-based Agricultural Machinery Service Network' aimed at creating a local Sharing Economy system. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Anongnat Chakaew, Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, emphasized that the government's vision is to establish the country as an Agriculture and Food Hub. This initiative is part of a broader policy to enhance the competitiveness of farmers in the global market by upgrading agricultural products and increasing income within the agricultural sector. The push towards modern agricultural machinery and technology is expected to grow by 0.3 - 1.3 percent in 2024, driven by constraints such as labor shortages, time, and capital. The Department of Agricultural Extension will manage the registration and updating of farmer data to improve access to government benefits, thereby enh ancing the quality of life for farmers. Mr. Peerapan Kothong, Director-General of the Department of Agricultural Extension, highlighted the development of the 'Community-based Agricultural Machinery Service Network' as a strategic move to foster a local Sharing Economy. This system aims to provide the government with a comprehensive database of agricultural service providers, including those offering machinery, drones, and automated systems. The database will serve as a foundation for organizing and developing the agricultural sector, enabling farmers to access quality services at competitive prices and allowing service providers to expand their businesses. For registration, farmers, farmer groups, or entrepreneurs with agricultural machinery can register online and submit forms at district agricultural offices. Services are categorized into stages such as pre-production, production, and post-production activities. Participants must ensure the accuracy of provided information and consent to sharing data wit h the government for system development.
