Bangkok: Pol Bhum, the Assistant Minister of Culture, inaugurated the exhibition '90th Anniversary of Pratuang Emjaroen's Birth' at the Queen Sirikit Art Gallery, marking a significant event to honor the contributions of artists in the Thai contemporary art industry.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Polpoom Viphatiphumphatham represented Ms. Sudawan Wangsupakitchkosol, Minister of Culture, during the ceremony. The event was graced by notable figures including Khunying Chodchoi Sophonpanich, Board Member of the Queen's Art Gallery Foundation and Bualuang Foundation, Khunying Pattama Leeswadtrakul, Chairwoman of the Contemporary Art Promotion Fund, Khun Pachanee Kongkalai, Assistant General Manager of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, Ajarn Chuang Moolpinij, National Artist in Visual Arts (Painting) 2013, alongside executives from the Ministry of Culture, the Director of the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, and other distinguished guests.
Mr. Polpoom expressed honor and delight in leading the opening ceremony, emphasizing the importance of commemorating Ajarn Pratuang Emjaroen, a National Artist in Visual Arts (Painting) in 2005. Emjaroen, a revered figure in the Thai contemporary art scene, has left a lasting legacy through his works, which his heirs have preserved as an artistic heritage. His creations, spanning over 40 years, continue to inspire and serve as a guiding light for future generations in the contemporary art circle of Thailand.
The exhibition showcases works with distinctive characteristics, capturing the essence of peace, spirit, and freedom of thought. Mr. Phonphum highlighted that the exhibition aims to provide artists, students, and art enthusiasts with an opportunity to study and appreciate contemporary art. The exhibition serves as a platform to inspire and spread the heritage of contemporary art, in line with Pratuang Emjaroen's legacy.
Mr. Polpoom also extended gratitude to Ms. Theeranuch Homthong, the artist and exhibition organizer, the Contemporary Art Promotion Fund, and the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture for their support. He thanked all parties involved for their efforts in organizing the exhibition, celebrating Pratuang Emjaroen's invaluable contributions to the Thai contemporary art industry.
