PM Reveals French Leader Ready to Support Thailand in Finding a Solution to Border Issue

Bangkok: The Prime Minister revealed the results of the direct call with "Macron" to exchange ideas, continue cooperation in all dimensions, and elevate relations to a strategic partnership. He emphasized adhering to the bilateral mechanism to find a solution to the Thai-Cambodian border problem, which the French leader understood the position and was ready to support. He confirmed that Thailand is committed to solving transnational crimes and invited the French President to visit Thailand officially.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, posted a message revealing the results of the telephone conversation with Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, stating, 'I am very honored to have a telephone conversation with Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, to exchange views on continuing and strengthening cooperation in all dimensions, especially in space technology, defense, and clean energy, in order to elevate the relationship between Thailand and France to a strategic partnership that adheres to the shared values of promoting free trade between countries and a world order based on international rules.

The Prime Minister reiterated Thailand's proactive role in promoting ASEAN centrality and Thailand's commitment to address transnational crimes, particularly online fraud, which threaten to affect many countries around the world. She also reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to discuss with Cambodia to find a peaceful solution to the border issue through existing bilateral mechanisms, to which President Macron expressed his understanding of Thailand's position and his readiness to support.

Additionally, she expressed gratitude towards France for supporting Thailand in the negotiations of the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement and Thailand's application for membership in the OECD, which she noted will bring long-term benefits to both parties.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister took the opportunity to invite President Macron to pay an official visit to Thailand at a mutually convenient time, while also acknowledging President Macron's invitation for her to visit France.
