Bhumjaithai Party Calls Prime Minister a Threat to National Security

Bangkok: Bhumjaithai Party spokesperson Ms. Nan Bunthida Somchai has declared that the Prime Minister, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, poses a threat to national security, leading to a motion for a vote of no confidence.

According to Thai News Agency, the Bhumjaithai Party has prepared a general debate motion, which they plan to submit to other political parties including the Prachachon Party, Palang Pracharath Party, Serm Tham Party, and Thai Sang Thai Party, to consider endorsing it.

The Palang Pracharath Party has reportedly agreed in principle, citing the Prime Minister's actions as a threat to the sovereignty and territory of Thailand. Ms. Nan emphasized the seriousness of the matter, highlighting the importance of safeguarding the dignity of the state and its people. The controversy revolves around the Prime Minister's interactions with Cambodian leader Samdech Hun Sen, during which she allegedly showed alignment with Cambodia amid territorial disputes, undermining Thailand's military stance.

Ms. Nan criticized the Prime Minister's conduct, indicating that her behavior has eroded trust among Thai citizens, as reflected in her declining popularity. The initial poll results showed a drop in her approval rating from 30% to 9%. The spokesperson urged a comprehensive survey to assess the public's trust in the Prime Minister's capability to lead the nation.

The Bhumjaithai Party has expressed further disappointment with the Prime Minister's failure to acknowledge the damage her actions have caused to Thailand, especially to those engaged in border trade. Despite apologizing for being recorded, the Prime Minister has not apologized for the consequences of her actions.

Ms. Nan urged the Prime Minister to explain her actions in the House of Representatives, allowing elected officials to assess her suitability to continue leading the country. She warned that failure to address these issues could lead to public unrest and undesirable changes. The spokesperson stressed the importance of using the parliamentary stage to restore trust and facilitate governmental progress.
