Bangkok: “Pirapan” did not attend the acknowledgment of charges in the relief bag distribution case at the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) today because the invitation letter had not yet been issued.
According to Thai News Agency, the NACC has issued a summons for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, to acknowledge charges in the relief bag distribution case on June 4. However, Mr. Phiraphan did not appear, as the official letter of invitation was not issued due to an administrative error.
Reports indicate that Mr. Phiraphan had previously coordinated to acknowledge the charges on June 4. However, due to the absence of an official invitation letter from the NACC, the acknowledgment did not occur. Additionally, the NACC member responsible for the investigation, Mr. Witthaya Arkompitak, has recently retired since his term expired on May 30, 2025, due to reaching the age of 70. Consequently, no replacement has been appointed to the investigation committee, delaying Mr. Phiraphan’s acknowledgment of the charges.
Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, deputy government spokeswoman and member of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSC), disclosed that Mr. Pirapan had dispatched someone to verify the facts on the morning of June 4. The NACC officer confirmed that no official letter had been issued to Mr. Pirapan, resulting in the missed acknowledgment.
