Krabi: Provincial public health officials, along with staff from Plai Phraya Hospital, have filed a complaint against a pickup truck driver accused of blocking an emergency vehicle on two charges: obstructing an officer and defamation of an officer while on duty.
According to Thai News Agency, legal officers from the Krabi Provincial Public Health Office, along with medical personnel from Plai Phraya Hospital, took legal action against the driver who parked behind an ambulance. The emergency vehicle was preparing to transport a critically ill patient to Krabi Hospital. This obstruction caused a delay of over 10 minutes, ultimately resulting in the patient's death while receiving treatment at Krabi Hospital.
As part of the investigation, a public health legal officer submitted video clips from CCTV cameras inside Plai Phraya Hospital, as well as statements from officers on duty, to the police for consideration of prosecuting the driver.
Police Colonel Eknarong Laksanwimol, Superintendent of the Plai Phraya Police Station, stated that officers have filed a complaint with investigators on two charges: obstructing an officer in the performance of his duties and defamation of an officer while on duty. He instructed investigators to comprehensively interview officers present at the scene, relatives of the deceased, and doctors from both Plai Phraya Hospital and Krabi Hospital to determine the cause of death.
Police Colonel Ekkanarong further mentioned that after a thorough investigation, a summons was issued for the perpetrator to acknowledge the charges and proceed with legal action. He assured that both parties involved would receive fair treatment.
