Pickup Truck Accident at Unprotected Railway Crossing in Phatthalung

Phatthalung: A 63-year-old man was seriously injured after his pickup truck was hit by a train at a railway crossing without a barrier, causing the vehicle to be thrown into a rice field. Officials quickly responded to the scene, extracting the injured driver and transporting him to Phatthalung Hospital for treatment.

According to Thai News Agency, police and rescue workers arrived at the accident site in Makok Nuea Subdistrict, Khuan Khanun District, Phatthalung Province. They discovered a severely damaged pickup truck that had been struck by a local train traveling from Yala to Nakhon Si Thammarat. The impact of the collision propelled the vehicle into a nearby rice field. Inside the truck, officers found Mr. Surin, the 63-year-old driver, who was seriously injured. He was initially taken to Khuan Khanun Hospital and later transferred to Phatthalung Hospital for further medical care.

Witnesses reported that prior to the accident, Mr. Surin had stopped at a gas station to refuel before heading to his duck farm. As he reached the unprotected railway crossing, a train approached simultaneously, resulting in the collision that left his pickup truck in the rice field.
