According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Khattiya Sawasdiphol, deputy spokeswoman of the Pheu Thai Party, addressed the Thai-Cambodian border dispute, highlighting the government's awareness of the situation's sensitivity. She emphasized that actions are being taken within diplomatic and security frameworks to protect national interests and maintain peace and order.
Regarding the former Cambodian leader's behavior, Ms. Khattiya deemed it inappropriate and detrimental to bilateral cooperation. She outlined the government's response, which includes managing the border crossings per the National Security Council's resolution, protesting to the Cambodian Embassy in Thailand, and engaging in diplomatic discussions with the Thai Ambassador to Cambodia. Efforts to scale back diplomatic relations are ongoing, including regulating Thai tourists and workers in Cambodia and tightening import controls on specific products like cassava, to sustain balanced relations with Cambodia and maintain long-term regional stability.
Ms. Khattiya stressed that the government does not wish to escalate tensions but must act to protect Thailand's sovereignty and dignity. She urged public vigilance in monitoring and sharing information carefully, particularly on social media, to avoid compromising national security. The situation will be closely monitored.
