Pheu Thai Leader Confirms Prime Minister’s Continued Tenure Amidst Political Rumors

Bangkok: Pheu Thai deputy spokesperson confirms "Prime Minister Paethongtarn" will not resign - will not dissolve the parliament after the 69 budget passes the 3rd reading, says the remaining 2 years will move forward to push laws - stimulate the economy - reform politics, explains the division of work of the deputy prime ministers, "Pirapan" still oversees the original work.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Khattiya Sawasdiphol, deputy spokesperson of the Pheu Thai Party, announced that Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, will not resign and will not dissolve the House of Representatives after there were misunderstandings from the news that some political parties proposed that the Prime Minister resign after the draft of the 2026 Budget Expenditure Act passed the third reading. This is considered an attempt to distort the facts in order to create confusion in society and undermine the stability of the government. In the past, the Prime Minister clearly confirmed that there will be no resignation and there will be no dissolution of the House of Representatives, especially in the current situation where Thailand is facing many challenges, such as security problems, border disputes, drug problems, cybercrime, people's high cost of living problems, low agricultural product prices, and political reform problems. These issues necessitate the government's continued work f or the country and its people. Following the cabinet reshuffle, the government will maintain its commitment to addressing ongoing issues, including drug suppression and technology crime prevention, while implementing measures to solve debt problems, reduce expenses, and stimulate the economy through new investments.

The deputy spokesperson further explained that in the remaining two years in the House of Representatives, there are laws awaiting consideration that will positively impact the economy, investment, human rights protection, and national defense of Thailand. This includes the progress of the draft constitution, the amnesty bill of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, and draft bills aimed at enhancing investment attraction, tourism, and generating new income for the country. Significant legislative efforts include the Entertainment Complex Act, the proposal to establish a 20 baht flat rate for train and electric train services, the Joint Ticket Act, the Retirement Lottery, and the Housing for Thais initiative. These initiatives are key missions for the Prime Minister, the government, MPs, and the Pheu Thai Party, aiming for successful implementation. Ms. Khattiya emphasized the importance of focusing on the country's and people's interests, urging those spreading rumors to cease distorting facts.

Ms. Khattiya also addressed the division of work among Deputy Prime Ministers, clarifying that Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, will continue in his role without changes. The absence of his name in the latest order division reflects specific assignments for other Deputy Prime Ministers to assume duties from Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who resigned. Mr. Pirapan continues overseeing the work of the Deputy Prime Ministers in his area of responsibility, which remains unchanged.
