Kalasin: Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, presided over the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new multipurpose building of the Academic Resources Unit at Khon Kaen Buddhist College, Ban Huai Si Thon, Phon Thong Subdistrict, Mueang Kalasin District, Kalasin Province. This initiative is part of the college's elevation to Kalasin Buddhist College, aiming to integrate Buddhist studies with modern science for societal development. According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony was attended by notable figures including Mr. Sanan Phong-aksorn, Governor of Kalasin Province, and Mrs. Bunruen Sritharet, Former Deputy Minister of Education, among others. The project was approved as an Academic Resources Unit on January 25, 2023, to support this vision. The building is funded by a budget of 10,000,000 baht sourced from donations by the Kalasin Provincial Sangha, civil servants, merchants, and local devotees. The new facility is expected to support educational expansion for both the Sangha and local residents. Currently, the college offers two levels of teaching: the Certificate of Sangha Service with 120 students, and the Bachelor of Buddhist Studies in Buddhism with 109 students. In 2025, the institution plans to introduce a Bachelor of Political Science in Political Science, in collaboration with the Khon Kaen Campus. Ms. Jiraporn emphasized the building's role in advancing Buddhist and higher education, stating it will serve as a hub for educational management and services for monks, novices, and the community.
