Samut sakhon: Executives of Hong Thai Herbal Products Co., Ltd. have clarified recent allegations regarding one of their factories, which was reportedly involved in counterfeit production activities. The company explained that the facility in question was only used for labeling and packaging their herbal inhalers.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Thiraphong Rabuetham, the founder and owner of Hong Thai, addressed the media following an inspection by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which had labeled the goods seized at the site as counterfeit. Mr. Thiraphong clarified that the surge in orders had outpaced the production capacity of their existing licensed factory, prompting the need for a secondary location to handle labeling operations. He emphasized that all Formula 2 inhalers are manufactured in licensed factories to uphold quality and enhance national reputation.
Despite acknowledging procedural oversights, Mr. Thiraphong stressed the necessity of continuing business operations to support employees and manage expenses. He assured that the products were produced under clean conditions and reiterated his commitment to high standards in future production, pending the necessary permits.
The factory located at Phutthamonthon Sai 4 in Samut Sakhon is undergoing preparations for inspection by the Samut Sakhon Provincial Public Health Office. Mr. Thiraphong is optimistic about the new facility's potential to elevate product quality, although it currently lacks the required packaging license.
Mr. Thiraphong appealed to authorities for guidance rather than punitive measures, stressing the importance of collaboration and understanding in advancing the Thai herbal medicine industry. He highlighted his reliance on domestic resources and expertise, acknowledging knowledge gaps in bureaucratic processes but urging for a cooperative approach to improving product quality.
With support from the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (Public Organization), Mr. Thiraphong plans to certify the sterility of all products, enhancing consumer trust. He reiterated that all bottling and labeling are conducted at their licensed facility on Phutthamonthon Sai 2, which remains a cornerstone of their operations despite space limitations.
In response to the controversy, Mr. Thiraphong expressed determination to address public concerns and maintain transparency. He invited scrutiny of Hong Thai's practices and committed to rectifying any misunderstandings to ensure Thai Swan, a brand under Hong Thai, is recognized globally for its quality and authenticity.
