High School Students in Trang Province Earn Income Through Manora Dance Performances During School Breaks

Trang: High school students from Sawat Rattanaphimuk School in Trang Province have taken a unique approach to earning money during school breaks by performing traditional Manora dances at various events. These students have been engaging in this cultural practice since their elementary years, showcasing their talents and garnering awards in multiple Manora dance competitions. Their efforts earn them no less than 2,000 baht per person each month.

According to Thai News Agency, students from Mathayom 4 to Mathayom 6 have been performing Manora dances to not only generate income but also to alleviate financial burdens on their families and preserve cultural heritage. Having Manora ancestry, these students have been involved in the dance since primary school. Although each school has different dance moves, students at Sawat Rattanaphimuk School, which houses a Manora club, have synchronized their performances to work together for events both locally and beyond. Their efforts have been fruitful, generating an income of 200-300 baht per day, primarily earned after school, on holidays, and during school breaks.

In addition to their dance performances, these students have been recognized at both provincial and national levels, winning various awards. This recognition has led to increased opportunities to perform, especially at vow fulfillment ceremonies, annual celebrations, weddings, and other significant events. Government agencies, associations, and companies frequently hire these talented students, who are commended for their ability to earn money, avoid negative influences, and contribute to the preservation of cultural traditions.

For those interested in hiring the students, contact can be made through the school's page, 'Here is Sawat Rattanaphimuk School, Na Yong District, Trang Province,' or by reaching out to Mr. Sutthirak Sangkrak, a representative of the youth group, at 093-6528142.
