Ministry of Education Pushes Forward with Integration to Enhance Thai Education

Bangkok: The Ministry of Education is making strides to improve the quality of Thai education through enhanced integration efforts. Education Minister Pol. Gen. Phermpoon Chidchob expressed his satisfaction with the achievements of the Office of the Secretary of the Education Council and the Department of Non-Formal Education. The collaboration between these entities successfully conducted a comprehensive survey on the literacy rate of the Thai population, targeting 2025, which involved more than 500,000 participants nationwide.

According to Thai News Agency, the survey, executed by the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC), showcases a significant potential to deliver empirical data and academic evidence transparently. This initiative focuses on the interests of both the country and its citizens, highlighting strong cooperation among government education agencies. The results aim to elevate the quality of Thai education to an international standard sustainably.

The survey results serve as more than mere statistics; they signify educational opportunities and the nation's competitiveness. The Ministry of Education plans to leverage this data for strategic long-term development to enhance the international competitiveness of the Thai populace. Key focuses include improving reading skills among the elderly, fostering lifelong learning, employing modern technology to promote reading, and addressing educational inequality across the nation. Collaboration with relevant agencies is also planned. Additionally, discussions with the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) are underway to use the survey data in international education rankings, potentially improving Thailand's standing and reinforcing confidence in Thai education globally.
