Grenade Attack on Kapho Police Station Sparks Urgent Security Measures

Pattani: The perpetrators were bold enough to fire two M79 grenades at Kapho Police Station in Pattani Province. Fortunately, no one was injured. The deputy commander of the Pattani Provincial Police has ordered officers to urgently collect evidence and review CCTV footage, and to implement strict security measures in the area.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Prayong Kotsakha, Deputy Commander of Pattani Provincial Police, inspected Kapho Police Station after this morning, perpetrators fired two M79 grenades into the police station. The first grenade was fired on the roof of a police residence beside the station, causing roof tiles and window glass to break. It also damaged the windows of a nearby residence. No signs of damage were found at the second location, only pieces of the M79 grenade were found.

The deputy commander of Pattani Provincial Police has ordered officers to urgently collect evidence and check CCTV footage, and to implement strict control measures in the area. The motive is believed to be the work of an insurgent group, with the perpetrators firing a grenade from the forest opposite the police station before fleeing into the forest.

At about the same time, another explosion occurred on a road in a village in Tambon Plong Hoi, Amphoe Kapho, on a roadside mound. Pieces of a metal box and pieces of shrapnel were scattered throughout the area, but no one was injured or killed.
