Elephants Assist in Removing Iron Pole from Tourist Bus

Ayutthaya: An electric pole was stuck through a bus, an elephant helped pull it out. A bus carrying Chinese tourists to the Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and Pen was pierced by a piece of iron that pierced through the glass. Fortunately, there were no people inside. The Ayutthaya Elephant Palace brought in two male elephants to help pull out the iron.

According to Thai News Agency, the bus had just finished dropping off more than thirty passengers and was maneuvering to park when it swerved to avoid a parked car. This sudden movement caused a steel pole to penetrate the bus's windshield, resulting in significant damage. Thankfully, there were no tourists inside the bus at the time, but the incident was alarming for those standing nearby. The bus driver attempted to move the bus, but the deeply embedded pole made this a challenge.

To resolve the situation, the Ayutthaya Elephant Palace enlisted the help of two male elephants. The animals, with ropes tied to the pole, successfully extracted it from the bus. Following this, a mahout used large pieces of tape to temporarily seal the broken windshield, ensuring that the bus's air conditioning could continue to function as it resumed tourist activities.

The driver expressed concern over the iron poles, stating that they posed a recurring hazard as he had nearly collided with them on several occasions. The Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and Peniat clarified that the poles belonged to an agency, though it was unclear whether it was the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Municipality or the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Historical Park. They suggested that unused poles be removed to prevent potential accidents that could endanger tourists and negatively affect tourism safety.
