Lom Sak: An unusual theft has stirred the residents of Lom Sak District, Phetchabun Province, as surveillance footage reveals an elderly woman, known locally as Auntie Mahadhai, brazenly stealing potted trees on a motorcycle. The incident, captured around 2:30 a.m. on January 17, 2025, shows the woman parking her motorcycle in front of a house on Phithak Road and calmly loading three plant pots into her basket before riding away.
According to Thai News Agency, the homeowner, Ms. Priyaporn, 51, was shocked to discover the missing plants from her meticulously cared-for garden, located next to the popular Tai Lom walking street. Disturbed by the theft, she posted the CCTV clip on the Facebook page Lom Sak Ban Rao, urging the community to help identify the thief. Her post, which included a phone number for repentance, quickly garnered attention and comments from netizens, many of whom shared similar experiences of tree thefts.
Ms. Priyaporn expressed her disappointment over the incident, emphasizing the effort and love she puts into her garden. She mentioned that while she welcomes visitors to enjoy and photograph her plants, stealing them is unacceptable. With the evidence of the theft in hand, she has given the thief a deadline of January 18, 2025, to return the stolen pots. Failing this, she plans to present all evidence to the authorities to file a formal complaint, hoping for justice to be served.
